Based on how the team has performed this year, I was wondering to next year to see which players may be on the bubble due to lack of production, high salary, injuries, free agency, age concerns or new scheme. Here are some of the players from top of my head who may not be back next year with the Texans.

Seth Payne – He is a good man but injuries have affected him badly. He should join the coaching staff.

Kailee Wong – Injuries and production has dropped off considerably. I just don’t think he is starter material any more, but he does provide nice leadership and he is high IQ guy.

Morlon Greenwood – For the amount of money we are paying him, his production doesn’t show it. He has to go this off season.

Steve McKinney – I don’t know why we resigned him to a new contract last year.

Mark Bruener – age is catching up with him.

Antwan Peek – He will be UFA next year. Don’t know what kind of money he will be looking for next year. He does have great potential but his production simply hasn’t been there the past couple of years. Peek and Babin really are out of place now with signing of Anthony Weaver last off season.

Shantee Orr – Really doesn’t fit 43 systems any more.

DaShon Polk – Same as Orr

    Troy Evans

Ephraim Salaam – age has caught up with him.

    Brad Bedell

Ron Dayne – His best days are well behind him and we have serviceable RB in Lundy and Gado but this position definitely needs up grade this season.

Mike Flannagan – He will play next year but that is all he has left in his tank. I don’t know if Drew Hodgdon is good enough to be our every day OC but we need to find some one this off season that can be a fixture for a long time to come.

Hahaha, yeah your right. After watching him for 4+ years one thing is very clear he is nothing more then an average QB at best. People can defend him all they want but that is just my opinion. I watched Cowboys game today and I must say I was very impressed by Romo's play, his leadership and the intangible that he brings to the table. Who can say he was drafted in the 6th round.

Being a die hard Texans fan, Carr has not shown any qualities found in a player who was drafted top of his class despite starting for 4+ years. We need to find a QB who can give us more then 4 win a season.

I am not being critical of Texans, but this just goes to show you the kind of work Charlie casserly and Dom Capers did. Right now we are in the process of correcting all their mistakes. Last year for the first time, Texans management made all the right move in terms of personnel and draft choices. If they had done their job properly then we would not have been discussing this.

Give credit to Bob McNair for pulling the plug on the old regime, I think Kubiak is doing a fine job but it will take time to correct all the mistakes of the old regime.

I agree with Payne, Wong, Greenwood, McKinney, Bruener. The only problem is the huge cap hit we would take from each one except Bruener. I say Peek, Orr, Evans stay. Orr played a good game against the Bills and had 6 tackles and a sack and the play he got the sack on he just lept straight over the guy who tried to block him. I have always liked Orr his motor is always running. Evans stays for depth at LB and for special teams.

Many players are on the bubble, but Antwan Peek stands out to me. He always looks great in camp, raises all expectations, and then fizzles in the regular season. 4 years is long enough to wait on the delivery of potential while seeing very sporadic on-field performance.

Same can be said of Babin as well. I think if given a chance we need to trade him this off season and pick up some draft picks in the process. His production is also low and inconsistent.

The biggest stat which I look for in a team is Wins and Losses. Great player always find a way to win games. This year we have had the most talent on the offensive side of the ball and our OL is done a pretty good job of providing time and protection to Carr. Rightfully we should be doing much better then what we have shown so far and our record should have been better what it is.

I look at the teams like NY Jets or NO and the reason they have much better record then us is due to QB play. Both of these teams are in a rebuilding mode and its not as if they have that much better talent then us.

Biggest quality in any QB is his poise, leadership and intangibles. Carr lacks in these departments even though he has more physical talent then most QB.

Come on the Jets? They've beat Miami, Tennessee, Detroit, New England, and Buffalo. And Pennington has not done anything outstanding this season at all. And I do not consider the Saints in rebuilding mode, sure they have a new coach, but guys like Horn and McAllister were already there. And if you look at the Saints, they have given up the least amount of sacks in the NFL only allowing 11.

Dang, I sure hope we have this thing with Carr resolved when this year is
over, once and for all ? One way or the other, keep him or trade him. It would
really be frustrating if year end rolls around and Carr's future here is still unclear ?
But the drafted players most on the bubble, considering the cap considerations, have to be first TJ and then Babin. TJ on his best days has just been ordinary, while Babin has played a little better than that in some games, but his production and consistancy falls short of expectations for a first rounder.

IMO the only place where Carr's future is unclear is here on this message board.

I dunno ? Carr's game in Nashville was such a stinker ! And Sunday, AJs effort
to catch that 3rd & 2 pass was not his best effort, but the pass Carr made was even more disappointing IMO. It was a helluva of a clutch opportunity for David to shut-up his bashers, but he didn't close the deal. On the other hand, he's played well, maybe very well in most of the other games.
We have 6 more games, maybe one of them will be the one, the defining game when all say yea he's our guy ? Or instead a game where the masses go thumbs down on DCs future in Houston ?

How did this turn into a Carr hater thread?

To me the guys who are on a bubble are Cook, Brown, Stanley, TJ, Babbin, Peek, Polk, Orr, Earl, and CC. Unless we keep these guys around for depth I cant fathom why these people would be playing for the Texans much less starting.

Can we please keep the Carr hating to a minimum. There is the whole off season for all you haters to petition for a new QB. Until then lets just enjoy the last six games.

    Thank You.
