Secret Superstars 2014: Texans
Thanks for the read. I always liked Brooks, but didn`t notice him as a real plus so far. It seems like our O-line can be quite good or even dominant, if one of our young RTs can actually be serviceable.
Yup, looks good. Add Fiedorowicz and Proesch for blocking services and we should be able to run the ball quite easily, while still having AJ and Hopkins outside if we go play action...
I'm not sure Brooks or Q can do the job. I think Sua-Filo, or whatever his name is, will be a star taking over for Smith. I suspect Fiedo will be a good blocker, and I know Prösch can do the job.
Was thinking about posting a poll whether Wade Smith or Derek Newton needs to be replaced more. But then I concluded that each needs replacement worse than the other. Smith is playing the wrong position. As a left guard he makes a good janitor. Newton is playing a different position. He can best be considered part of the other team's defense. So it seemed important to draft more top O-linemen.
"A third-round pick in 2012, Brandon Brooks waited patiently as a rookie after registering only 174 snaps in his debut season. After a camp battle with Ben Jones last summer, Brooks entered his second season as a starter and certainly made the most of his opportunity. Come season’s end, only the Eagles’ pairing of Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans would have higher run block grades among the league’s guards."
His biggest battle was against his own weight. IIRC he was in Kubiak's dog house at 350 pounds.
Well he should fit right in now with the Big Is Beautiful new texans.
