Just heard that Peerless Price could be let go from the Falcons. If this happens this would be an awesome sign for us. Our #2 receiver prayers would be answered. :headbang:

I agree with you...PP would be the answer to our 2nd reciever prayers...He can run, BLOCK, and Catch...I wonder how much he would cost?

Pass. Gaffney, Armstrong or Mathis are all viable #2's. Carr throws to AJ like 60% of the time anyway. Why waste money bringing in a guy who will want to be overpaid to play #2 whenn we already have young players who can satisfiably fill that spot?

Pass as well. Unfortunatley the NFL teams are based around a salary cap. I see no need to go and lock up Price with a huge contract considering we will have to award some large contracts next year (Davis, Gaffney, Pitts, etc..). And, pending the left tackle situation this year, we may have to go spending next year on our most apparent problem.

    With respect..I don't agree...

Gaff is not a good blocker...also he takes some plays off...remember the ball dropped going into the endzone?

Armstong has good hands, but he is not a proven player (after all was he not a practice squad guy last year?)...

As far as Mathis goes...Do you really think a late round pick is going to be a #2 his first year?

Peerless Price from SI.com and AOL Sports
    Atlanta Falcons (NFC) | WR | #81
Ht: 5'11" Wt: 190 NFL Exp: 6 College: Tennessee
Year Games Rec Tds Lg TD
    2004 16 45 575 50 3

Doesnt look too bad to me, especially with the run first throw second mentality of M. Vick. If we could get him in here for a one year deal to see how he performs I wouldnt be disapointed at all.... if the $$$ is right that is.

he is an awesome wide reciever but just hasnt had the chance to become great. if he doesnt want a incredible number i dont think we should pass on him. as for gaffney, he just sucks. mathis and armstrong should be infront of him

IMO, "Peerless" Price proved he is "anything but" the past couple years. He is extremely overrated and would ask for way more money than he is worth, especially as a #2. Watch and see.

But Gaffney's numbers do? With the run 1st/pass 2nd mentality of Dom Capers?

    Gaffney in '04
Year Games Rec Tds Lg TD
    2004 15 41 632 69 2

And Gaffney got his with 38 fewer targets. These guys careers are going in opposite directions. This Price is wrong.

    Mathis? How:
    Games-0
    Receptions-0
    Yards-0
    Touchdowns-0

Mathis hasn't proved anything yet, Jabar has.

Right 84!! Jabar has proven himself to be a good #3...We can do better at #2...PP would be a significant upgrade. Remember Vick runs first and throws second, therefore, PP's numbers are lower then when he was with the Bills....

Prices's numbers are down because he's not as good as he was with the Bills. In fact, Price only had 1 good season (2002). He's extremely overrated and the Falcons have known this since he 1st stepped on the field for them. Don't you find it odd that Atlanta has used 1st round picks on WRs in back-back drafts? Price is no longer even a good #2 WR.

You can always tell the uneducated football fans from the educated ones. Uneducated fans always get excited about "big names", usually the skill position players, and generally undervalue those players that aren't big names because it would require a discerning eye in order to identify their talents.

Therefore, Armstrong and Gaffney are dismissed by these fans because their raw numbers are less than Price's... that's in the face of the fact that both Wrs catch a higher percentage of balls thrown to them and the fact that they are entering what should be their prime while Price is leaving his.

Fans like this are screaming for an organization like the Daniel Snyder run Washington Redskins. Fortunately, our organization doesn't listen to their voices.
