Wow, nice deal for him, he deserves it. How does this contract compare to Demeco's?

Texans re-signed MLB DeMeco Ryans to a six-year, $48 million contract. The deal was first reported by beat writer John McClain, though ESPN's Adam Schefter had the particulars. The contract contains a whopping $21.75M guaranteed and $26.3M in the first three years, including a $7.5M signing bonus and $7M base salary in 2010. A two-time Pro Bowler and captain of the Texans' improving defense, Ryans rivals Jon Beason as the second-best young inside linebacker in the game behind Patrick Willis. The 25-year-old did well to match Karlos Dansby's guaranteed money with the Dolphins. Ryans, Brian Cushing, and unsung SLB Zac Diles will form one of the top 4-3 linebacker units for years to come.

Demeco got a 6 year $48 Million with $21.75 Million guaranteed.

It should be noted that Willis is a MLB in a 3-4 while Demeco is a MLB in a 4-3. Don't know what effect that should have on things, but just pointing it out. Kept hearing in the draft how you don't draft a MLB high for a 3-4, so I'd suspect its an "undervalued" position?

Willis is easily one of the best LB's in the leage and this is well deserved. He could probably start at any linebacker position on any team and be one of the best. Safest pick in the 2007 draft turns out to be...... an All Pro.

Well, he certainly outdid Demeco. It will be interesting to see how it is structured with bonuses and yearly compensation.

10 mil a year for a linebacker? Wow. Jon Beason just made a few million off Willis' deal.

DeMeco @ 8 mil is alot. Well deserved, but alot IMO.
