Those of you that saw the game already know about the injury. Looks like he's going to make a full recovery and will be back next year.

I had a similar injury when I played in high school (of course mine was just a freak injury on the field, it didn't happen because of gross negligence on the part of anyone else).

I made a full recovery within 8 months & was able to play the next season.

I'm happy for Edwards. You hate to see a kid get hurt.

These kinds of injuries are common in soccer. He may be back next year, but he'll be full speed his Junior year. As far as being able to play, I'm not sure how it would translate to football, but in soccer, players that suffer this kind of injury are often 100% healthy, but the fear of aggravating the injury affects their playing for a while.

    I agree.

I think he will be physically ready for next year, but he is going to have to take a few hits to that leg before he will feel comfortable mentally.

Good to hear that. That injury was just gruesome. I hate watching someone sprain their ankle. Seeing something like that gives me the heebie jeebies.

    Another update.....

This still chaps me. I know it was a boneheaded thing and nobody wanted it to happen, but how stupid was that? I know if you look around any college or NFL endzone you will see trouble waiting to happen and often it does to a lesser extent, but it still makes me a little pissed.

Maybe hearing on the video at the very end someone in the stands yelling, "Walk it off!" doesn't help my thoughts on the matter.

The school paper said he was under heavy watch for infection because he had a gash over the break.
