O'Brien is installing an entirely different offense this offseason, the Texans coach revealed to NFL Network's James Palmer at the Annual League Meeting in Orlando.

"Why put in an entirely different offense? He really told me everybody saw what we did with Deshaun this past season," Palmer explained on Wednesday's edition of Up to the Minute Live. "They're changing things and it's not even completely put into place yet. They're still putting it all together.

"And he said the teaching portion of this is going to be the challenge because of Deshaun's specific skill set that is so different and so lethal at the same time. ... But they are changing things up dramatically on the offensive side of the ball."

Like I was saying earlier, no reason to have different systems then.

1 for Watson and another for an Immobile QB.

I'm excited but am going to temper my expectation.

I think this is OB realizing that he has the perfect chess piece in Watson.

I really like the Coach Klein. But he likes the Gatorade. I told him some fine H2O is all we need. Coach Klein is a good man.

Maybe this year we'll see that secret "edge" offensive player we read about 2 years ago?

Color me skeptical til proven otherwise. Unless that plan includes Lamar Jackson?

Just when it starts to come together, BOB has us running on faith again. I'm not complaining because we have no idea what this is going to look like yet. But I'm right back where I was 4 years ago in trying to figure out if BOB knows what the hell he's doing.

I don't understand why this is bad news?

The changes they made to the offense (on the fly) last year yielded good results.

Now he and the staff have a full offsean to build the offense around Watson.

    Exciting times.

I like the idea that they are trying to tailor the offence to Deshauns considerable skills that are not typical of most NFL QBs.

The changes they made to the offense last year were the only 'good results' we've seen with BOB's offense. Now we're changing it.

I think last year they built the offense on the fly....... I truly believe they are taking what they have had last season and going to build something from there.... Taking the show me first approach before I get overly excited about this team. I save my excitement energy for the Astros and Rockets.

You can't effectively change a whole offense beginning in the regular season. O'Brien did a great job of trying to do so on the fly when Watson came in. But he had to go to the offense that was established throughout the offseason and preseason when Savage had to take over. I am sure that what O'Brien is talking about when he says there will be a "dramatic change in the offense" is that he will build on what Watson's strengths are and develop, refine and institute the offense formally (rather than on the fly) during this offseason/preseason.

Why is this a surprise? Surely no one thought he would do anything but design an offense to showcase #4 skill set as he did last year? Coach now knows what the kid can do and will scheme accordingly. I'm wondering how his "speed guys" that he got [L. Miller, B. Miller and Tyler Erving] will do.

Why would Watson's superior skillset make the teaching portion more difficult?
