PFT are rumormongers but this has all sorts of interesting twists and it is the Raiders. They have been rumored to be more interested in Quinn than Russell--not too far fetched for Davis to make a play like this. The reality is even a lowball offer probably would be as much as going #3 and certainly more than #7. Interesting conflict between Peterson and Quinn's representation as well--get a deal done for Quinn at #1 then Peterson probably goes #3 and you have two of the top three. Quinn refuses and one drops.

Interesting to say the least. The Raiders were assumed to be selecting Russell for some time now, with a long shot to take Calvin Johnson. Taking Quinn would certainly change the entire complexion of the top part of the first round.

I would think the Browns would take a very hard look at Russell. The conflict there would be between Crennel, who needs to win now to save his job, and Phil Savage who might like the incredible upside that Russell posesses. That in itself would be interesting to see how it plays out.

I wonder what kind of effect, if any, Quinn taking a low ball contract would have on the rest of the first rounders' contract negotiations.

This is similar to the '99 draft, where the Browns gave Akili Smith a lowball offer. When he accepted, the Browns turned to Tim Couch and made him deal off of the terms Smith agreed to. So just because the Raiders gave Quinn the offer, doesn't mean they still won't eventually draft Russell (or Calvin Johnson).

I believe the Cowboys did the same thing with Russell Maryland except they actually signed him to the lowball.

I was listening to the Dan Patrick Show, and he said that Mortenson is reporting that the Raiders have not lowballed Quinn...He did'nt get into detail...

Am I the only one now wondering why that wasn't tried with Mario? Never mind, I know why.

There is a rumor floating that the Raiders have already reached an agreement with Brady Quinn and that he will be there #1 pick. Speculation is that this had to do with Quinn's acceptance of a lower offer than Russell was willing to take. Sound familiar? Stay tuned...

If that is true, then JaMarcus falls to at least the 20th pick.

The Browns might take Russell. Does'nt the GM know him or something?

??? he could go 3,7,9 and in the unlikely event he does fall that far (late top 10) some1 will pull the trigger and trade up
