Our message board has self destructed with the announcement.. But serious you do not want him as a DC.. Look what he did to our defense.. Let alone our whole team..

I like the 49ers and hope they manage to rebuild somehow.

Thanks.. I like them also.. We have the talent, but just need someone who can lead the team.. It's been apparent Nolan can not do it. It's been 3 plus years with no results..

He was a great coordinator with those Baltimore defenses though. He might be one of those guys who is a better coordinator than he is coach.

My wife (a big Niner fan) was thinking this was coming yesterday and I wondered about it myself. I believe Mike Singletary would make a great permanent replacement, but I know more about his play than his coaching abilities.

I've been waiting for the NINERS to REbuild the exact same time I have waited for the TEXANS to build! I'm starting to think I'm jinked!

I believe he has been on the list of top potential head coaches the past few years, but just hasn't found the right spot.

OK, my biggest question is why didn't they fire Vernon Davis? Man that guy is the second coming of David Boston. Cadillac body with a Yugo engine. No offense to Yugos.

what's Vernon's deal? I thought he was labled to be the next truly great TE... Sounds like Robert Gallery v2.0

and i may be alone on this, but i still like Alex Smith, weak arm and all. He did pretty decent under Norv.

I've heard that Davis has a poor work ethic and a bad attitude.

I think he is comparable to Vince Young in that they have both always been the best athlete on the field at any given time. And now that they aren't they don't know how to deal with it.

The 49ers have been rebuilding since before the Texans were awarded a franchise.
