I would give up a 6th for a guy who could start 6 games while a rookie was learning the ropes.

Or a guy that could start 6 games and tag team him depthwise so there would be servicable RT play unlike what they had last yr, in addition to spending higher draft capital in the draft or FA on a LT and move Davenport's sorry ass to the swing OT position which is probably where he needs to be. They just need to invest in the OL heavily. So far not so good.

Three highest paid non-QBs in the NFL, by APY ... • Bears OLB Khalil Mack $23.5M • Rams DL Aaron Donald $22.5M • Raiders WR Antonio Brown $19.8M Holdout, holdout, trade demand. Same as it ever was -- if NFL players want to get paid, they have to be willing to get muddy.

Which is why I didn't have a problem with aB as much as some here did. It's just business.

Did he hold out? LeVeon Bell did & that probably primed the well for Brown, but AB didn't get muddy.

Gurley's knee is severely arthritic. As I warned during his draft, although not reported his 2014 knee injury was not a simple ACL, but included damage to his articular cartilage and meniscus structures...........time would definitely be his enemy. Despite this, the Rams rode him hard and put him up wet.

The Raiders think tank still remains challenged when making deals............they didn't have the money to pay a stable Mack (most important position after QB), but had the money to pay nut job like Brown.........it won't end well............and the Raiders will continue to be the Raiders. Look out Derek Carr.

The Browns, not being able to trade Darren Fells, has released him.

Gaine should bring him in on the cheap. They need a TE that can block.

So no hold out, no one getting muddy?

As far as the Raiders & their think tank, they gave up Amari Cooper & his contract for a 1st round pick. They gave up Khalil Mack & his contract for two 1sts & a 5th'ish.

They pick up Brown with a ridiculous contract for a fifth & sixth.

I hope BGaine is taking notes.

This tells me the Giants plan on drafting a QB. And don't want Beckham anywhere near him.

More trade news: The #Chiefs are deep in talks with the #49ers on a trade for star pass-rusher Dee Ford, sources say. Things have escalated and this could get done by the end of the night. Ford needs to work out a new contract with SF, which is a big piece of this.

Interested to see the trade and the contract. I expect Clowney to be traded prior to the drafta.

I think trades will be a lot more common nowadays after what Bell/Brown have done. Players are willing to sit out now and teams want to get something tangible in return.

Really? Why would the Texans do that when they consider themselves a playoff contender? Much more likely to come to terms on a contract.

    Tend to agree.
It would take a serious offer to make the Texans do a double take.

I don't think they value Clowney the type of money he'll command (Aaron Donald/Khalil Mack money). The team has to make a choice whether to give him a big contract or JJ when that time comes (especially once DW4 gets re-upped). Looking down the line the team is going to back JJ over Clowney. Not an indictment on Clowney as a player just how the team values spending their allotted cap dollars. If they can hit the "reset button" with a 1st round pick and the rookie contract that is associated with that pick over giving Clowney 100 million+ I think the team will do that.
