Wow. I thought Gumbel would have a hard time getting work after his comments at the olympics...:stirpot:

Yuck. I can handle Collinsworth although he is not my favorite by any stretch. Unless it's the Texans, I am not watching anything Gumbel is on. I refuse to support that racist bigot. And if it's the Texans, I will turn down the TV sound and listen to the play by play on the radio.

Collinsworth and his Adam's apple freak me out. I do not have a problem watching a perceived racist as long as he is not implying racism during the broadcast. But that is me. It has always been about the game, not about a commentator or a rookie from USC.

NFL | NFL Network calls broadcaster story premature
    Thu, 20 Apr 2006 19:25:29 -0700

Richard Sandomir, of the New York Times, reports a NFL Network spokesman called premature a Business Week report saying it had picked Bryant Gumbel and Cris Collinsworth to call its eight Thursday and Saturday National Football League games. Both men would need waivers from HBO, which holds a cable exclusive on them. Collinsworth would also need to work out an accommodation with NBC, where he is scheduled to be a studio analyst for Sunday night football. Collinsworth calling three Saturday night games might be more than NBC would let him do.

I'd do that except for that time delay between radio and TV. It just throws me off.

Bryant Gumbel? What are his credentials for play-by-play? A very weak choice if the NFL Network goes that way. Cris Collingsworth is probably my favorite color guy. Glad to see he gets another gig.

Agreed, Why does the larget Cable network in town NOT have the NFL network.

Its almost enough to cancell cable and get the Dish and suffer thru crappy reception when it rains!

Good point, I didn't think about that. Guess I will either suffer, or just not watch at all.

As far as satellite goes, I have DirecTV. I can count on one hand the number of times per yr it gives me problems with rain. I probably lose maybe at most a total of one hour per yr due to heavy rain. So, let's see. There is about 8800 hundred hours in a year, and I have perfect service for 8799 of those. I lost far more than that when I had cable.
