Next NFL Commish: Bill Clinton???

why do I keep hearing on the Jim Rome Show, "The Jungle" that Clinton is a candidate for the commisioner seat? is this true!? give me some details!

He has not shown any qualifications for this job. I sincerely hope that they don't give him a job based upon a publicity stunt. Surely there are many more qualified applicants.

I heard on the radio the other day that she actually withdrew her name from consideration for the Commisioners job. She is staying with Bush as long as he needs her.

He is a politican and you need to be one when between the owners and the players. So I guess you would be qualified, but I still don't want him.
 
It would not work for President Clinton I don't think.

I would think the job requires a very busy schedule and time....I don't think he has either because he makes a mint doing speeches around the country and why would he want to actually work hard at something when he can pick and choose a speech here and there and still make millions?

He's got Hillary to contend with. She's probably going to run for president and anything Bill touches that has power attached to it she wants a piece of...so if he were NFL commish she'd have to be equally NFL commish. They were co-presidents after all.

His health. If he's just getting well now after all those heart issues why would he want to deal with the drama that is the NFL.

He's so much better off just helping out President Bush with the hurricane relief thing they have going on and being Hillary's first man....uh lady...uh whatever they call men behind powerful political women.
 
I was never a big fan of Clinton but I have to admit he is a very smart man. If he isnt sure how to do somthing he will bring in a professional to help him with it. I think it would be kinda wierd having a expresident as the comish.
 
I never did agree with the want to impeach Clinton for cheating on his wife. He cheated and lied, but that didn't get JFK in trouble. I was thinking, how about the Falcons' owner as commish? The way he made the Falcons' seats affordable made it possible for many ATL residents to watch the Falcons. If he instituted that policy for the whole NFL, maybe more people, including myself, will be able to watch their team in a stadium, not just on TV.

Seriously, though, my concerns with Clinton is that he's never ran a business, much less a multi-billion dollar empire like the NFL. In addition, he might tend to be a populist commish who could make decisions based upon public perception, which could ruin a good thing. The public knows squat! This is all just speculation, of course.

The only positive I see is the endless stream of joke possibilities this would give us.
 
Actually if Clinton wanted the job he could get it in a heartbeat -- his national approval ratings are around 80% right now. His popularity has always been very high, but after the Tsunami and Katrina relief efforts with Bush Senior his ratings went through the roof. He is very well accepted across the political spectrum -- now his wife on the other hand...

Are you talking about George Bush? He aint a fiscal conservative and he certainly does not have the character or morals that I would my nephew and niece to expound. He has hurt the office of the president in everyway fathomable, except for his administartions attempt to usurp more power from the legislative and judicial branches. It makes total sense that a weak president would need more executive power to push his selfish, religious, obstinate agenda on us.

I do not think the current owners would concur with your synopsis.

No, I was NOT referring to GWB at all. I was referring to Clinton. And I was not in any way trying to make a political statement. I was just going with facts. Clinton's character and morals are (regardless of party affiliation) questionable. He cheated on his wife, and he lied. Those are facts. I'm sure many traits of both Clinton AND Bush could easily be called into question. But the initial issue of Clinton being the NFL Commissioner was what I was referring to. Generally speaking, and there are always exceptions, the extremely wealthy (like the NFL owners) tend to be more often Republicans. Bill Clinton most certainly is NOT a Republican. Therefore, it stands to reason that they would in all likelyhood not want him as their leader.

I was not in any way trying to make a pro-Bush or anti-Clinton statement. I was just sticking to the known facts. Shoot...I can't stand either one of them! Politicians in general are not the type of people I like to be around, and I don't trust any of them to make decisions based on the best interest of the people they serve, but rather on who lines their pockets with the most money. Hmm...on second thought, maybe a politician WOULD be a good choice for NFL owners!!!
 
Appreciate the response. I was well aware of your funning and I was the one who went political. I just can't stand a social conservative who runs as a fiscal one. I think Clinton would be a good comissioner, I just think he would better serve the country in another capacity whether it be in the public or private sector.

We just need to get over the impropiety thing. We all have done or know someone that has something worse and still hang out with that person. We could at least use this man for he is quite experienced and educated to help us in some form. Surely a christian country would be more forgiving once the politics are stripped away.

He was the President of the United States...He should have been held to decent Moral standards. I don't forgive his little games. I don't condone anyone doing this...especially the President of the United States.:twocents:

Condi Rice? .... no. Might as well push for Drew Rosenhaus to be the next Commish. Both would do their Damnest to run the league into the ground.

I'm weary of the idea of an owner being commish. See Bud Selig.

I would like to see Tags give someone an endorsement. I do think he stepped down at the right time and someone in his office would probably be a good call.
