More changes to #Patriots secondary, as they have cut SS Brandon Meriweather, per @ProFootballTalk.

Big surprise! Considering they had one of the worst passing defenses last season, and Merriweather is coming off a Pro Bowl season.

I don't think we are going to look at him unless he wants to be a back up.

But maybe if the price is right they would go for it.

Merriweather & McCourty went to the pro bowl & they had one of the worse passing defenses?

    That don't sound right.

That Meriweather couldn't be dealt for a draft pick tells you everything you need to know regarding his value in the league.

Since he was cut does that mean if someone picks him up they have to negotiate a brand new contract with him? Wonder what he thinks he's worth?

I think if he clears waivers then a new contract can be negotiated...

If he's claimed off waivers the team claiming him would pick up his current contract , if he clears waivers he has to work a new deal.

    I'm hearing the same thing.

I'm hearing he doesn't play hard every down and that he's a kind of a cancer in the locker room.

Meriweather has four years of NFL service. Four years or more and you don't go through the waiver process - you immediately become a free agent.

He would fit here but doubt Texans are interested having acquired Manning then moving Quin to his natural position.
