Idexan has a great post from ESPN in the random thoughts of the day thread concerning our upside and downside. Got me thinking that I don't recall going into a season not being surprised if my team ended up in the Super Bowl or went 4-12. Odds are that we end up somewhere in between, but if you have to pick one, which is it? 4-12 or Super Bowl (appearance, not victory)?

Neither is likely to happen, but if I had to put my money down on one option it would be SB, mainly because I think we're closer to being a playoff team than finishing 4-12.

4-12. until they prove they can stay healthy, we cannot have confidence in a Superb Owl victory

4-12 way too many question marks when it comes to talent and health to think this team is a title contender.

    More likely is obviously 4-12.

    More than likely is neither.

With a little luck and a healthy season the Texans could conceivably get to the SB.

And with a little luck and a healthy bank account I could be a billionaire.

Nah, they aren't what they used to be.. Camelot is slowly falling. We might not beat them, but all the stuff that they used to keep in house is slowly pouring out into the street.

Until Bill O'Brien proves otherwise, we're closer to 4-12.

Hmm. Thought this would be lopsided for super bowl for some reason. I'm picking super bowl myself. I agree with the article I referenced from idexan that the Texans are a logical candidate for a team to come out of nowhere and be in the Super Bowl if things break their way. Like everyone else, I don't see either happening but see 4-12 as less likely. Thanks for playing along fellas.

You can't make a SB run unless you get some breaks along the way with a little luck to boot. I think we're due. Nobody has had worse luck than us with injuries, etc. Queesenberry and Hal both got cancer for crying out loud. WTH?

8-8 is more likely than either of these scenarios.

We're an injury riddled team. Until that changes we're a 4-12 team.

With Watson under center for a season, the Texans should be able to finish closer to a SB than 4-12. Other things to factor in, but no way I'm starting the season with any hope other than #4 making it through an entire season.

Just due to last year, 4-12 is the most like to happen between the 2.

SB with Buttchin at the helm? You gotta be kiddin'. 4-12 is the more likely of the two because of the injury bug, but hopefully we can do much better than that.

Is it just the Texans themselves, or what? I know other teams have had injury riddled seasons, but it just seems the Texans have more serious injuries to their top of the line players that most teams.

I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong, but it's certainly my perception the Texans fare worse than average when it comes to this.

It seems that way because it is that way. Texans get more serious injuries by playing hurt, and the injuries linger longer because they aren't dealt with realistically. The medical staff is not good.
