Here is an Insider article where Mel Kiper re-drafts the 2006 draft. This draft IMO was our best draft in history with Mario, Demeco, Winston, OD, even Charles Spencer was a solid pick before he got injured. Well in Mel's re-draft he has Haloti going number 1 to us (no argument there) and Mario falling to #5 with 5 other current Texans still going in the first round.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, 6 including JJo and Manning... Gotcha. For a minute there I was wondering how the hell David Anderson made the 1st round re-draft....

I reckon I'll never understand the Winston hype. Don't get me wrong, I like him and think he's a decent RT, but Duane is a much better T. I think he's more of the complete player at the position of the two.

Ok, let's just remove the whole notion of a bust. Kiper's evidence for him going in the first round is that he's gained 4th most of all backs drafted in his class? Does he not realize that Reggie Bush averages 529 rushing yards a year? How bad was this class of backs that THAT is fourth best?

Jones-Drew averages 613 yards more per year than Reggie Bush. Let me reiterate that...Jones-Drew rushes for over twice as many yards as Bush every year. He also leads Bush in reception yards by 35 over the same time span.

What has Reggie Bush done to deserve a re-grade of a first round pick?

Also the comment about the number of receptions is classic as well. If he gains 2 yards on a screen, that is not a successful play. He has looked better with the Phins, but not first round material.

Reggie Bush @12 ..... no way, not even close.

DeAngelo Williams is over-ranked there as well, imo.

I'd like to see a real NFL talent scout -- with a team -- do something like this.

Well, we knew what kind of story we were in for when he said it's still a close call between Mario and Reggie. Yeah Mel, and Mark Sanchez is a can't miss QB...

Holy crap, I didn't even read the part where he said:

Wow...just wow. Sure you can accuse me of being a Texans homer...but who in their right mind is going to say the edge barely goes to Mario? Kiper just threw any credibility he had left out the window. What happened to him taking up McShay in saying if Clausen wasn't a first-round pick he'd retire?

I agree, Winston is a great in the run game but a liability in pass protection. That tells me he should be playing OG not RT, and your right Brown is a much better athlete and player.

Good catch. I skipped over that part.

That has to be one of the worst comparisons ever.

He wasn't too far off last year but can't wait to see him make changes to last years draft (2011). I would resepectfully ask Texan fans to give Brandon Harris his four years, like Kareem to evaluate selection. Watt/Reed/Yates alone should make this draft A- He was right about one thing however, Texans needed to add a WR on roster. Interesting to note when Rick Smith moved up top of the 2nd two picks before, Torrey Smith, WR, Baltimore & Greg Little, WR Cleveland, former teammate of TJ Yates @ North Carolina.

Greg Little has character issues, so we had no chance of picking him. Torrey Smith would have been a hell of a pick. If we had gotten him instead of Harris, we would have made the AFC Championship. The Ravens offense would have been completely awful without him this year. Too bad...

Where did the actual #3 pick in that draft end up the redraft scenario?
