"Andre Johnson → Meathooks Johnson. If a football gets near his hands, I promise you, it's not going anywhere. Andre Johnson's got an uncanny ability to reach out and snag footballs away from his body. It's almost like he's reaching out and snaring the football with a giant hook. And I might be alone in this, but I think "Meathooks Johnson" sounds pretty awesome."

Funny, but I think there's better nicknames out there for him.

    How about Silent J?

The guy never speaks, which is like an endangered species for players coming out of the U.

well they say at the beginning of that article that they would either create one of their own, or help to popularize one that already exists.

We have two on this team.

    Super Mario and Petey Faggins

so..wasnt really any need to make a new one. That being said..Meathooks Johnson is a silly name. I liked Mount Haynesworth :D

Wasn't the Carr lovers' complaint on AJ that he can only catch with his body?

    Over here.
AJ had some problems with not having soft enough hands. He has worked hard at correcting that and done well, but I wouldn't give him a nickname based on having soft hands, either. It's not his biggest strength, but he's overcome for the most part. Most of that was over before we could blame Carr's problems on him. I do remember bringing it up once after a game, but I didn't mean to act like it was an ongoing problem.

Meathooks implies damage, and sounds more like a nickname for a defensive end as in "once he gets his meathooks into you, forget about making it back to the line of scrimmage".

Mario already has a nickname, but I hope we end up with a "Meathooks" soon - it just shouldn't be A.J.

    Andre 'Stickum' Johnson.

Could have two meanings. The ball sticks to him or that he sticks it to them.

    I like it.

He reminds me of a shark. Even if you know he is there, he will glide by deceptively fast. Has no fear and knows he is the predator in charge. When you are a shark among fishes, you do not have to show your teeth. The other fishes realize they are 'Lunch" if AJ is trolling.

The Beast. The guy is a beast to take down once he has the ball. Or maybe even Monster?
