Marshawn Lynch Arrested

Bad summer for arrests

DUI. He'll probably get a suspension, I assume, since he has had earlier run ins.

Marshawn Lynch was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence, according the San Jose Mercury News. The Seattle Seahawks running back was in his hometown of Oakland for a charity function last week when the incident occurred.

Marshawn Lynch had a history of off the field issues while in Buffalo. In June of 2008, he was involved in a hit and run accident that led to his license being revoked, and a few months later, was arrested for possession of a firearm. He was ultimately suspended three games at the start of the 2009 season as a result.

Hmmm, Elvis, Ap, Dez, Lynch, and at least a dozen others? This is clearly the work of a nation wide conspiracy aimed at defaming innocent athletes who are victims of their success. Forget accountability. My money says Rusty Hardin is behind it all.

He pays officers a few grand to "unlawfully" make arrest...swoops in to get an athlete's buisness while their desperate...and then makes tens of thousands off each mark.

I've always said (and this is coming from a goofy looking dude) that Lynch has got to be the ugliest mofo I've ever seen.

Damn, he got me a lot of points in my Fantasy League last year.

That is the scary part about fantasy football now. I don't think, "Wow, that will hurt the Seahawks" or "wish that guy would get it together." I think "where would I draft him in fantasy football now if he is suspended?"

Marshawn Lynch almost hit two cars before DUI arrest
July 17, 2012, 5:22 PM EDT

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was observed swerving through traffic and nearly hitting two different vehicles before he was finally pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence before 4 a.m. on Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol says Lynch was driving a Ford Econoline van and had two near collisions with two other vehicles. The arresting officer said Lynch showed “objective signs of intoxication” and failed field sobriety tests. He later submitted to a blood test that showed his blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08.

This isn’t the first time Lynch has driven dangerously. In 2008 he hit a pedestrian outside a bar, then drove off.

Lynch is scheduled for a preliminary court appearance on August 14. As a repeat violator of the NFL’s personal-conduct policy, he’s likely facing league discipline as well. Following his last run-in with the law, a 2009 guilty plea to a misdemeanor weapons charge, he was suspended for three games.

Was he so plowed that he got into the wrong vehicle.:kitten:

Let's play a game.

Every Friday, you have to pick a player who is going to be arrested over the weekend.

Bonus Points awarded for correctly naming the offense.

Marshawn Lynch apologizes, reportedly facing no discipline from NFL

Marshawn Lynch was recently arrested on suspicion of DUI and, this week was formally charged for drunken driving by the Almeda County District Attorney.

This was about as surprising as the apology Lynch made through a statement released by the Seahawks on Friday.

"I want to apologize to my family, the Seattle Seahawks, the NFL and the 12th Man for the negative attention resulting from my recent actions," Lynch said. "This is not the type of community leader I have been over the last two years or the one I'm striving to become. I want to assure everyone that I will work to be better and look forward to a very exciting, and very successful season with the Seattle Seahawks."

Much more interesting is how Lynch's situation will play out through NFL discipline. A report emerged when Lynch was charged that a suspension could void the contract he signed this offseason.

However, that might not come into play. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported Thursday that Lynch won't get suspended by the league, primarily because his DUI would fall under the substance-abuse policy, not the personal-conduct policy. Florio also notes that Lynch can't be suspended until his DUI case with the court is resolved, and thus it could be difficult, timing-wise, to suspend Lynch for the 2012 season, based on how long it would take the legal system to process his case and the league to process his disciplinary case.

Lynch has previously violated the personal-conduct policy, which garnered him a three-game suspension at the beginning of the 2009 season, when he played for the Bills.

But as Florio points out, Lynch has never been suspended under the substance-abuse policy, and would therefore only be subject to league discipline if "aggravating circumstances" were involved. A source tells Florio that "the Lynch camp" is "confident" the running back won't be suspended for the 2012 season.

Given Lynch's history and the appearance of a heavy rash of driving-related of arrests this offseason, it would be a pretty fortuitous if Lynch escaped punishment.
