The Chiefs and RT Eric Winston visit The Bills and LDE Mario Williams this week.

Mario has been getting ripped this week in the media for being overwhelmed by a "practice squad player" and then complaining about the referees.

Eric Winston had a credible first game.

These two went head to head in practice with the Texans for years.

So, who wins this battle ... who you got?

Winston will be on Mario's side, Mario isn't good enough to go against premier LT's so they line the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history against RT's to help him out.

I think he will have a chip on his shoulder and get a couple of sacks this week.

I'm pretty sure Strahan & Haley played over the Right tackle.

If Mario "disappears" .... if he ends up with a minuscule stat line, then Winston probably neutralized him.

If you don't know what to look for, just read the Buffalo News Sports section the next day or go on a Bills forum. It should pretty clear.

With all the criticism from the first game, it being at home, I can see him getting a couple of easy sacks then everyone at Buffalo will say he was well worth the money they threw away for him.

If they continue to look like they did last week & they are .500 (3-4) or worse by the time they come to Reliant, it won't be worth it.

Mario's super secret yet to be disclosed injury will keep his numbers down.

No it won't, but the prevailing argument I see on their message board is that it was important for them to sign him for 2 reasons. One, it legitimizes them as a team and will make Buffalo more of a target for potential FA's. And two, they had to spend money anyway to increase payroll to meet the salary cap floors. They really seem to be lost in the fact that they could've spent the money much more wisely on several FA's this year but there's no reasoning with them.

Oh well, glad I'm not a Bills fan.

He's already announced last Monday that he has a wrist injury that occurred at the end of training camp. The head coach was saying it was the reason for Mario's reduced productivity.

As did arguably the greatest of all-time, Reggie White. But playing over the right offensive tackle is more challenging for the DE because it's usually the strong-side of the O-formation meaning there's a TE to help the tackle and most QBs are right-handed so no "blind-side" advantage for the pass-rusher.

Seems Mario had a decent game yesterday, not too many stats of his own but ate up double and triple teams, recovered a fumble, helped stop the run game from getting going and drew multiple holding calls.

All the while everyone around him were managing to get to the QB.

I think thats a pretty good baseline for what you can expect from Mario, if you've got the talent around him, they will have increased opertunity to put up stats because of him, he's great against the run, and will take a lot of attention off of others. But he won't consistently beat the extra protection all be himself.

Not so sure thats worth $100 million personaly, especially considering that you need to invest heavily in the positions around him as well, but at least Mario is performing to his own standard and it isn't really his fault if one team vastly over-valued that standard.

For Mario to win, he has to get better stats then Connor Barwin.

KC averaged 7 ypc and passed for over 300 yds and 2 tds. The only thing the Bills should be thankful for is that KC's D is worse than Buffalo's. Hope they enjoy the W. They don't get to play KC every week. Gonna be another LOOONG season for MW.

We should be taking bets on if Mario will ever start in a playoff game during his career.
