Anyone else notice that a certain running back didn't even get a vote in the RB rankings?

If youre talking about who I think youre talking about, I noticed that as well. Now that all the commercials and hype have died down surrounding him, you are seeing and hearing a lot more people eating crow...myself included.

It's just amazing to see how the media can make a 180 on their perception of Mario.

Hopefully this time next season, we'll see Amobi on some of those top 5 list.

    Very nice.

As a side, Andre Johnson only got one vote for the WRs. Larry Fitzgeral, Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Steve Smith, and Marques Colston were all ahead of him. Can't say I agree with that at all. And Braylon Edwards and Torry Holt were tied with him. Sheesh.

I know what you mean. After last season the national media has dubbed Andre as injury prone, which is completely unfair. Oh well, this one I know will have no problem being proved wrong.

The good news is we currently have 3 players that are consistently showing up on lists such as this one.

Mario's #2 on this list. Earlier, Pete Prisco of Sportsline ranked his top 50 NFL players, and Mario was the #1 DE (#6 overall). PFW's season preview included both a top 50 overall ranking as well as rankings by position - they had Mario the #2 DE - again behind Jared Allen, and #22 overall (Which to be honest, I believe is more accurate than #6).

Prisco had AJ ranked #26 which put him at #4 among WR's, and PFW also put AJ at #26 overall which in their rankings translated to #5 among WR's. Call it the homer in me, but I agree with those saying 1 vote for Andre being among the top 5 is ludicrous.

Demeco is also starting to show up in these things, and I think only one vote in the USA Today list is the about as bad as AJ only getting one. (and in 2008, you don't know what you're talking about if you rate Ray Lewis as top 5). Demeco was a "Just Missed" in Prisco's top 50, and #49 overall in PFW's list. PFW had him at #3 among inside LB's (behind Urlacher and Lofa Tatupu), and #6 among all LB's (putting Outside LB's DeMarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman and Jason Taylor ahead of him).

I would guess that if we finally get that winning record in 2008 (especially if that translates to a playoff appearance), you could see folks like Okoye, Daniels, Schaub, Winston, and maybe even a complete surprise or two on this list next year.

Yep, respectability and lack of anonymity is just a winning record and playoff berth away. :fans:

I can see reason for the other 4 ahead but...Marques Colston? Reggie Wayne at this point is better then Marvin and He's about in the same about as AJ quiet, from the U but goes out and does his thing very well. Should've made the list.

Why are people pointing out that RB who plays in N.O. without a mention of a certain QB not getting any votes either? :heh:
