    Wk. 1 Kareem vs. VTech

Tyrod Taylor is a dual threat QB, averaging over 5.5 yd/carries,
but his passing game is not among the top tier.

In general, Brent Musburger, the announcer summed it up best:
Jackson was on the receivers like a blanket.
A very clean game in which he did everything right.
Taylor had to look elsewhere, thus taking him longer to find the receivers,
    resulting in incompletions.
    He broke off one pass.
He mirrors the receivers well, understands how to use the sideline.
Sometimes too efficient for his own good
(Almost pulls in an INT, but since the QB had to throw it to the outside,
Kareem just did not have enough room, especially with the WR there.)
Kareem works hard to fight off the blockers
to try to get to the runners and other receivers.
He is successful in this task more often than any receivers
I've seen this year and last.
He would not back down from any receiver or TE or even lineman.
His hand techniques are good in both the run and pass.
He did not record any tackle in this game, but he set the edge well.

He commands different approach in press coverage.
He changes up his stance from time to time.
Sometimes he would jam the receiver.
    Sometimes he would backpedal.
Sometimes he would turn and run.
Sometimes he would do the shuffle.
Sometimes he plays up but gets back quickly.
Sometimes he plays off but comes up at the last moment.
Due to these variations, he's able to hide his intention well.
He's a good candidate to get off the receiver to come in on the corner blitz,
    or to contain the run.
With a quick fist step and burst, he can catch the LT in surprise.
And he's plenty strong and physical to bull rush a blocking back.
The results would show in later games.
This was only the first game of the season
and he appeared to be ready for the next level already.
And he didn't even play defense in high school.

For all these reasons, the runners mostly go in other directions.
In the second half, the QB barely looked his way.
This explains the lack of stats on his part.

As with any DB that I have seen, he does have bad tapes.
(More game review coming, anybody wants to help?)
That's one of the reasons why I had him in very early in the second.
The other is that I only went with his 4.48 speed.
I wasn't aware that he had been clocked as low as 4.41

If he can run between 4.41 and 4.48, I don't think this pick is a risk at all.

I'm about to finish the Ark game, and will get to the Tenn game next

Was reading his article, and found this interesting:

We'll probably have to pony up a little more since its an uncapped year and we picked him at 20 instead of mid 20s, but good jumping off points

Should be a little less than $15million for 5 years which is his first season but if any good at all over the five years becomes a very good deal for team.

Likely half of what we would've had to pay Dunta. Let's hope he ends up to be one of our CB's for several years to come.

Week 4 - Kareem vs. Arkansas, one of the top passing team in the country.
The Hogs led the SEC in passing with a very deep receiving corp
    and a capable QB.
QB Ryan Mallett is a strong candidate for the NFL in the near future.

Stats: 2 tackles, 3 assists, 2 pass breakups.

    1. Jams receiver at the LOS and keeps in check, shows good hand technique.
    2. Reads the run well and comes up quickly into the backfield;
even though he gets shoved off by the RB (not too badly and he has good angle),
able to get RB to run backward then horizontally 4-5 yd behind LOS,
allowing teammate to clean up for a 3yd loss.
    3. Mirrors receivers well on two plays;
forcing the QB to go short on one, resulting in an incompletion.
    4. Works hard trying to get off blocks on running plays,
setting the edge on one forcing runner to go wide east-west.
    5. Disguises/shows a blitz well, bursting off very quickly on the snap count,
causing movement by the LT for a false start penalty.
    6. Tight coverage on a pass play in press-man forcing the receiver to the sideline;
QB had to throw the ball to the outside and therefore incomplete.
    7. Gets off receiver and throws his body into the pile on a running play.
    8. Would change his stance here and there before the snap,
not tipping the receiver whether he's in press coverage or playing off-man.
    9. Locks step with receiver on the slant route,
knowing the point where his man would try to make his cut
    and adjust accordingly. Well done.
    10. Allowing a first down on 3rd and 6; possibly a bait.
He was looking at the QB the whole time and started shuffling away from receiver,
inviting the throw; at the start he did not attempt wholeheartedly to cover the WR tightly.
The safety came right up and laid a hit on the receiver sending him to the sideline.
A little sooner on the safety's part and there would have been a good chance to jarr the ball loose.
The play started on the Ark 24 yd line so it's as good as any time for a trap.
    (20 yd gain).
    10. Turns and runs in press man but gets back up quickly
    on a come-backer (5yd supposedly if completed.)
WR knew he was gonna to be hit and dropped the ball.
    11. First bad tape here. Gets burned on a fade route for a TD.
looks like he guessed a different play and maybe
he was a little overconfident that he can make up for it.
The QB made a good throw and Kareem just couldn't recover.
    (Manning would love this, grr!
This one looks like a classic Manning-Harrison fade route.)
    12. Saves a TD by making the tackle on a WR not under his watch.
    13. Gets off the block and join in on a 4yd TFL.
    14. Allows a short comebacker, which is not something too bad.
    15. Makes a great diving play 'almost and oh so close' to an INT;
the WR puts a hand in there and barely pokes the ball out.
    16. Another tackle in run support forcing a punt.
    17. Tight coverage on a pass play.

Bama won 35-7 and Kareem gave up the only TD, haha!
Seriously folks, I have seen worse tapes from Haden and Earl Thomas.
Next up, I'm going to go with the OleMiss game in week 6.
(I'm skipping some of the lesser competitions!)

    I'll save you the time.
Snead locks in on Shay Hodge from the snap... Jackson reads the QB... jumps the pass and Pick 6. :gun:

    LOL

Oh, I've seen many more games than 2.
I watched about 9 Bama game the last 3 years.

Like I said, I would have put Kareem in the first round if I knew he can run faster than the 4.48 that was posted.
(And also, I'm one who is careful. Most of the time I would give some player a lower grade. I would end up having only like some 20 players in the first round, haha!)

The review of the OleMiss game will be a fun one to read.
I'm already done with most of it.
Hopefully I can post it tonight.

I also have many of the notes from the Tenn game as well.
