uh oh... wonder what for. If the chiefs get their 1st rounder... it's just THAT much more unlikely a top LT falls to us.

VIKES GIVE UP THREE 2008 PICKS FOR ALLEN
Posted by Mike Florio on April 22, 2008, 11:17 p.m.

    Holy crap.

The Vikings, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, surrendered their first-round pick in the 2008 draft and both third-round selections for Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen.

The Chiefs will now add the No. 17, No. 73, and No. 82 overall selections to the No. 5, No. 35, and No. 66 picks, giving them six selections among the first 100 picks.

Wow they gave up both of their thirds this year. Didn't expect that.

This smells like the Cowboy trade that made the boys into a dynasty.

    When will the Vikings learn?

Minnesota is literally one player away from a dominate team. Sage could go to a Superbowl with these guys. They are good!!

i like this trade simply because it increases Jason Taylor's value a tad.

Allen just became the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.

Not necessarily. Some mocks had both KC and Minn. going for an LT. KC won't use both picks on an LT, so that would make it more likely one would fall to us. (Of course, some mocks had neither taking an OT...)

I think with Udeze out ..they had to do something
    overpaid maybe?
but I guess they know what they are getting in terms of an NFL player..

Uh, holy god. All those picks, and 74 million with 31 million guaranteed???

Suddenly I'm really glad we were never players in the Allen sweepstakes. That is ridiculous. He's good, but that's just waaay too much, especially when you factor in the off-field problems that you never know might pop up again.

This means we play Allen this year.

    Dammit.

We dodged him last year because of his suspension.

I think taking into account the money they spent and the picks they gave up, it was way too much BUT

Their interior line guys with Allen coming off the edge now...the defense was #3 last year....even with a decent secondary their D will be scary and add to that the fact that they will have AD to control the clock too.

I was a big proponent of trading for Allen until I saw the pricetag and contract. Screw that.
