How was JR's Pro Day? Anyone know?
LOUISIANA STATE: MARCH 14
The workout was held indoors on FieldTurf. Over 100 NFL personnel were there.
Player Position Gil's comments
JaMarcus Russell QB All Russell (258 pounds) did was run one 40-yard dash in 4.83 seconds and perform position drills. He threw to receivers Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis.
Dwayne Bowe WR Bowe ran his 40s in 4.49 and 4.40 seconds.
Craig Davis WR Davis ran his 40s in 4.44 and 4.41 seconds.
Daniel Francis DB Francis ran a 40 in 4.41 seconds, but pulled up and did not run a second.
i just looked quickly and thats all i could find..espn may have something but i havn't checked.
Here is a link with all the results. My roommate was there filming and said JaMarcus was a little late on some of his throws and some were behind the receivers but all and all he threw well and the scouts were really impressed with his arm. He also said Dwayne Bowe had some problems holding on to the ball.
Path to the Draft said he had lost a little weight since the combine in an effort to show he has a good work ethic. They also said he had eaten dinner with the Raider staff one night in a get acquainted thing.
I guess Landry did'nt workout...
he did, there is a good link above to go to..I forget landry's exact numbers but there were pretty good. It has like 20 lsu players that worked out.
Not saying it won't happen, but I just find it hard to believe that Oakland will take him over Calvin Johnson. Yes, I know that Oakland needs a QB in the worst way, but I just don't think JR is Raider material... Just MHO...
I more or less see them taking CJ with the 1st pick and then grabbing Mr Heisman, Smith in the 2md. But that is just me....
Think they would let go of their 2nd for Mr.Carr?
If they were smart...they'd draft CJ and get a veteran QB to take over for 1-2 years while they rebuild their o-line..then have a younger QB come in and take over (i think that's what we need to do too)
I think cleveland could take Joe Thomas if available and get a guy like Michael Bush in the 2nd...but AP is simply amazing and understand if they've fallin in love..i have..lol
todd mcshay said russell had the best pro day of any QB in the last 10 years.
I watch a TON of SEC football and this doesn't shock me a bit. What shocks me is when people pick the guy apart and discredit him based on second hand observations...but I won't name names.
And the thing about Russel, until he rounds into the QB you expected he can
play TE or SAM for you. Guys a real horse.
i mainly pick him apart based on what i've seen on the field. it's pretty easy. the stuff about him being aloof and astray doesn't help.
probably the strongest arm ever, but little else.
They had some of his workout on path to the draft on nfl network last night. I tivo'd it but fell asleep before he came on. I will watch it tonight.
In any case, if this rumored deal comes down with Moss for Aaron Rogers, there may be a slight crack open for him to drop, although I doubt it. Even if he makes it past two which is doubtful, TB might gobble him up, or some team like the Fins might trade up. But, you never know....
I think that he fits the Raider mystique.
i think even if russell is sitting there at #9, the fins don't touch him.
everything miami has done this offseason though points to drafting SOME quarterback. i'm expecting an attempt to move up and grab quinn. if not there, perhaps stanton in the 2nd round. the position will be addressed in the first two rounds.
NFL Network coverage of LSU's pro day. Mike Mayock also raving about Russell.
btw, a member of the dolphins board attended the pro-day. here's his report:
You may already have seen this....
Then a little further down, pretty much says the same thing - but for Russell.
typical pre-draft stuff from the miami papers. "could be interested" means "hey uh maybe i dunno, they might be thinking about moving up? who knows...maybe. right? makes sense. i dunno."
Separate names with a comma.
