Based on what I've seen I have to question whether Bush is an everydown back. Sure the guy is fast and great in the open field, but you have to look past all the flashy diving in the endzone head first, Fresno State juke near the sideline, etc. I need more evidence that this guy can pound it between the tackles. You have to remember this guy had an exceptional Offensive line at USC playing mostly pancake defenses. Based on the few games I've seen USC play I'd take Lendall White over Bush if anything.

The answer is NO. He cannot run up the middle. Now he could be on the field every down as a slot WR or a flanker or something like that but not a back. DD is our back and only maroney, Williams or White could be a better back then DD coming out of the draft. Now if you want Bush to come out of the backfield in the split in passing downs or stretch plays thats find but that limits your play callings and tells the D what you are going to do. We already do that with our TE's. When Rivers in there we pass and Bruener its run. I mean can we give our plays away anymore.

Not necessarily. Having Bush lined up as a receiver and Davis in the backfield doesn't tell you anything. If anything, it will force the defenses to stay more honest to the package that we have on the field and not double AJ or stay in the box.

Bush was used as a decoy a lot during the Texas game and was one of the reasons why Jarrett and White were able to be more successful.

I don't know. I would like to think that he is. If he is indeed the pick, you'll be paying him like he is. So we will or won't find out.

Not necessarily, it tells me there is another VERY GOOD RB (White) on the same team.

Trust me i have been telling people that white is an all around better NFL back then Bush is. People are overrating him. White is the real deal. This just tells me that Bush hasnt done it and has proved he cant run up the middle. Name 1 team that wants a RB that cant run up the middle. the answer is 0. He is a 3rd down back/flanker/slot WR nothing better.

I guess Cadillac Williams isn't a full time back either because he split carries with Ronnie Brown.

I keep hearing he is too small to be an every down back but I just don't get that. He is listed as 6-0, 200 LBS and probably can put on another 10-15 LBS without ony issues. He is not any smaller than many other every down backs.
    Tiki 5-10, 200 lbs
    LT 5-10, 221 lbs
    Portis 5-11, 212 lbs
    Barry 5-8, 200 lbs
    Emmitt 5-10, 216 lbs
    Curtis Martin 5-11, 210 lbs
    Faulk 5-10, 211 lbs
    Priest 5-9, 213 lbs

I can't see why his size would be a limitation.

I am not saying he can do it on his own, but I am saying that I don't see any reason why he physically can not be an every down back.

The Texans need a lot of help in other areas as well and that is why I think our best option is to trade the pick. If Bush is still the guy, I think we could move down to 3 and still get him, but that means TN gets VY. We could still get our guy plus (I would hope at least) a 2nd rounder this year and a 1st rounder next year.

I agree with trading down... i have been looking at some things and its more and more likely we will trade down. Esp if we do switch to a 43 because of our 34 personnel. Bush nor Young can really benefit this team as good as a trade down can.

    We don't have a 3-4 personel. We have a 4-3 that was playing in a 3-4.

He's size won't be a limitation. You also forgot to mention Warrick Dunn, he's
5'9" and only 180lbs, yet he was 8th in the league in rushing. If bush puts on no less than 5lbs I can't see why he wouldn't become an everydown back.
