Fill in the blanks:
Impose his will on opposing defenses. Make the opposiion fear him on every play. Control the game and make it his.
i dont care his numbers as long as he helps us win, throw a td every now and then and hand the ball off to DAVIS yes i said DAVIS !
I really like where the offense went when he was calling the plays vs the Cards.
-Show a winning leadership ability and make smart decisions, sometimes the risky ones too... whens its sensible.
But for the Anti- Carr Texans fans:
Make the All-time all-pro madden team.
Wins are wins, no matter what the stats are. At the end of the season, someone can lead the entire league in stats or whatever, but the TEAM could go 2-14. In the end, if the TEAM doesn't peform, then the TEAM doesn't win. Will Carr have good games all the time?...no. Will Carr have some good games?...yes. Either way, each side of the ball is going to have to step-up.
Kyle Orton won games?????? or did the Chicago defense???? why'd he get pulled for Grossman???
just win baby....thats all i need.
How about a minimum of at least being as good as Trent Dilfer, a QB who might not win the games himself, but he won't lose them for you, either.
Although, for the kind of jack we're paying DC, I'd hope he rises to the top ten QBs in stats and winning percentage next season.
Someone refresh my memory. Wasn't Carr rated in the top ten for the first half of the '04 season?
He needs to throw some good numbers. If he does that, nobody can complain or blame him.
I'm trying to find half-season numbers, but they seem to be tough to locate on the internet....
...make the texans not regret passing on vince young.
The 1st half of '04 was against poor D's, but he was putting up goofy numbers. After 5 games the Texans had the 2nd or 3rd O on yards in the AFC. Thru the 1st 8 games Carr had a QB rating of 95.1, 64 % completions, 270 ypg and was on pace for 4400 yds of passing. In the 1st 9 games of 2004 he never passed for less than 200 yds--in the 23 games since then he has had 5 games of over 200 yds.
I think the kyle orton remark was not a good choice. Orton didn't win those games that defense did
unfortunately, for carr, he doesn't have the luxury of a defense like the bears that can create turnovers and give the offense extra possessions. carr will have to make plays for the texans to win. adding bush to the mix will certainly take some pressure off carr but, ultimately, as carr goes so go the texans.
For lack of a better option I picked the one about already supporting Carr. I have supported him all along and I think he is our man at QB and will continue to support him, however the second part of that statement about his "failures" this next season being entirely the fault of the rest of the team is not necessarily true, I'll hold Carr and anyone else accountable for their personal shortcomings and hold the team as a whole accountable for their win/loss shortcomings.
I would really like to see his stats improve because its not all on the quarterback whether we win or lose or not but his stats could show me something that I need to see in him to beleive he's good enough to lead our team. Also he does need to show more leadership. The players reactions will dictate that
then we're on the same page.
I don't care if he wins or loses..... I don't care if he puts up probowl numbers, or go 15 games without throwing a touchdown.
I just want the boy to stop screwing up. Stop making rookie mistakes. I want David Carr to show a little poise in the pocket. Not get himself sacked. Not run out of bounds with the ball behind the LOS(I'd normally let this slide once or twice, but David's done used up all his "run-out-of-bounds-behind-the-LOS" card. If I see him do it one time........... oooooooooooo, I swear). I want to see him beat a blitz, and make them think twice before they comit so completely, so early...... how many times have you seen anyone check out of a blitz?? I want to be put in a situation where I have nothing to complain about David Carr.
Has Andre droped balls?? yes, one or two..... but the good outweight the bad. Has Dunta been beat?? yeah, but I'd take him anyday over most other NFL corners...... Has DD been caught from behind before?? I'm not sure, but maybe ().... but I know beyound a shadow of a doubt, he'll be a star in this league.
Yep, that about sums it up.
Allot of fans point to the first half of the Cards game as an example of DC's potential. While I have to admit DC did look good, it was only one game and it was the Cards (not the most notable defense in the NFL). I want to see DC make better decisions on the field. Some of DC's problems last year can be traced back to the former coaching staff, while other problems appear to be shell shock related from all the sacks he has endured. In order for this franchise to start to move forward, our QB and O-Line will have to improve their play together. I believe they will have to start with the basics and small accomplishment to build up confidence in each other.
More like the first 1/3 although his #'s sustained thru the half-way mark.
Hasn't been the same since.
Right around the time he and his Daddy cut their locks. Hmmmmm.
I say grow it back, get a few tatt's, get those mudflaps with the chrome chix on them, start smokin' (regular cigs), spraypaint "David Luvs Melody" on the back of his local H.E.B., start jammin' to some old school MetallicA , etc.....
