I thought that Echemandu did a pretty good job at RB for his first game. He showed some pop. I would continue to play him because we are going nowhere with Ahman (over the hill) and Ron Dayne. Let's see what he can give us. I know our line is not very good but I liked this kid's play. He's definitely an improvement. :fans:

I took agree, he seemed to hit the hole faster and quicker and looked strong.
I hear his nickname is Joe! Go Joe!

He looked good yesterday, I'd like to see him taking some of the handoffs, but I wouldn't go over the top yet. If Green doesn't get on the field next week I wouldn't mind seeing Dayne and Echemandu split the runs like yesterday. It would be nice to have a run game we can actually rely on to gain us some meaningful yards.

I need to do some digging and see why he hasn't been able to stay on a roster for the past 3 seasons. I am going to have to eat crow on this signing... for now... he is definately playing like he wants to remain on our roster but lets hope he can keep it up.

My question is, with such a tremendous showing from the new guy, why did they keep putting Dayne back on the field?

nobody repects the Texans RB/running system. teams stack the box & punish the runner in the hole. its a pattern/weakness teams know they can exploit forcing fumbles & interceptions.

sure you can balance the attack with minimal no name RB's if you have a stable of average low cost backs by sharing the load as long as you have an Elway type of QB who can also scramble. But the Texans have classic pocket QB's who need both protection & RB's that can break off long runs & keep the defense honest.

You may not have liked it when we signed him, but I know I was thinking "ANYONE has to be able to get more yards then Dayne does, especially on short yardage" I think it was interesting that when "Joe" Adimchinobe Echemandu had his first few runs, all of a sudden Dayne could plop forward for more then 2 and was able to convert short yardage... interesting.

As to why he hasn't stayed on a roster he was a seventh round pick ... for the cleveland browns... Minnosota has had Chester Taylor and Mwelde Moore, and the Raiders let him go to make room for Dominic Rhodes (I'm pretty sure).

Another seventh round pick thats shown up lately for us is David Anderson, while he should NOT be returning punts seems to have fairly reliable hands and goes un-noticed by the defenses ... for now...

what game are you watching :yikes:

looks like he is playing hurt to me. can't scamble to save his own hide he just keeps sustaing more damage. excatly just how many yards has he struck fear into the opposing defenses with his feet.....my point is not an attack of Matt Schaub its to illustrate the point of a balanced running attack with your RB's & that the QB has to on occassion pull it down when opportunity presents itself & take off running. keeps the defense honest & if your really good at it Elway/VY then it enhances your entire running game positively :thumbup

I liked what seemed to be more runs to the outside.

It's amazing what happens when you put in a back with real NFL burst...so much for our backs being "upgraded" this season. Kubiak actually thought that Gado, Lundy, Green and Dayne were a legit NFL stable in the preseason.

It's amazing how off I was on the RB crew this yr. I thought we had talent at the top, and good depth. I guess in some ways the jury is out on Green, but one primary trait to look for in a RB is the durability. Green doesn't have it, and for that reason alone, we need an upgrade.

Dayne is back to 2 yards and a cloud of fat, and I though Gado was better than him, and Dayne should have been cut, but then again Kubes seems to have a thing for "Ronnie". It's almost creepy, I'm half expecting Ronnie to go trick or treating and not getting out of Kubes house. Come here little Ronnie, Mr. Kubes has good candy inside.

I was also impressed with Joe before he got injured. Not saying he is the long term answer, but maybe he will be a poor man's Michael Turner if he continues to look as good. Showed good vision, nice balance and cutting ability, and a real burst through the hole. I'll be interested to see if he is more of a flash in the pan, or the next back to come out of nowhere and be productive.

What amazed me (again) was that they told us Green was nearly 100% mid week then they deactivate him on Sunday....you just can't trust the Texans when it comes to being honest about injuries on top of what looks like a lot of other things they are not handling well.

I've stopped even looking at injury reports. I'll rather be in the dark and find out at kickoff than get my hopes up and experience a let down.
