This is starting to look like it's not going to be the best offseason to be trying to replace a coach considering how much competition is going to be out there.

Here are teams that appear they could be looking for a new HC this offseason or definitely will be ...

    Bengals
    Browns
    Texans
    Titans
    Broncos
    Vikings
    Panthers
    49ers

    These teams are outside possibilites

Jags (if they falter down the stretch)
Chargers (if they continue to collapse after they appeared to be rebounding)
Cowboys (actually I think JJ holds on to Garrett)
Giants (I doubt this one however if they collapse Coughlin's name will be in the mix)
Cardinals (Wisenhunt probably keeps his job riding on the merits of being the only guy to take the Cardinals to the SB ala Jeff Fisher however they are a mess right now)

If Cowher is going to get back into coaching now will be the time. He might actually get some bidding wars going on for his services which rules out the Texans IMO.

Might as well post this story here:

Son of Gruden spills the beans on coaching plans

I had a feeling Gruden would like to return to the Bay, and now that the Oakland job seems secure, the 49ers are the only other option.

I think the Browns and Vikings both keep their coaches. Cleveland has been in a lot of close games so I say Mangini probably gets one more year. If the Vikes continue to win there should be no reason to get rid of Leslie Frazier. Out of the other teams I think only the 49ers may decide to stick with their current HC. They've played better since Troy Smith became QB and in that division they're still in the playoff hunt

Is this 3 head coaches fired during the season?

    Cowboys, Vikings and Broncos??

That seems like it could be some kind of a record.

Unusally high, iirc. So much for the uncertainty of the lockout.

    Exactly.

And what pisses me off the most is that Texan fans are taking a "Oh, we can't change becuase of the lockout" approach.

If that's the reason we're not changing coaches, we deserve to be mired in the muck of mediocrity we're currently in.

I don't think most fans are saying we can't change because of the lock out, but that we won't change because of the lock out. Big difference.

Deuce Gruden is going on my list of fake names that I give telemarketers or internet sites.

Joins Jamie Lannister, Patrick Bateman, and Zap Rowzdower

I tell you what. If Wisenhunt is out in AZ, and Cowher is available, we need to jump on that. Cowher /Wisenhunt is a great combo.
