Have any signed before training camp starts? Or are the Texans still the only one?
Browns signed Kamarion Wimbley.. that is all so far.
*EDIT* just to clarify.. the us and the Bears are the only guys who have signed all thier picks.. the Bears didnt have a first rounder though.
Raiders signed Huff.
I thought I had heard Cromartie was signed but I haven't seen anything official on it, otherwise Wimbley and Huff are the only ones I'm aware of.
yup...mario, huff, wimbley, and cromartie are the only 1st rounders to sign. i have heard that tamba hali and chad greenway are both close to signing.
Marcedes Lewis also signed
I respect the guy for not diddling around and waiting for the 2nd and 3rd picks to sign in front of him. I guess he understands the importance of camp.
Well it appears he was the 1st one below Mario to realize he wasn't taken #1. VY seems to be looking for #1 money as well, and it sounds like the Tacks may give it to him.
By way of contrast, in 2005: #1 Alex Smith, 6 years $49.5 mil (24.5 mil guaranteed), #3 Braylon Edwards, 5 years up to $40 mil (18 mil guaranteed).
O-lineman are known for being the smart ones.
Rumor has it that we are going to pay Vince more than Mario
Too much money for a guy who's never played a down, but i guess he is the future of the titans
tye hill CB rams also signed
Well it wasn't really to make anyone mad, I was just saying that's what I hear. But he is a QB and technically he should get more money than a DE. But we'll see. BTW, the Saints are my NFC team. I lived in Louisiana for a bit.
Greenway and Kiwanuka are signed.
One of my sources tell me that Nick Mangold is signed or is close to signing.
NFL Live also said Mangold and Hali are signed.
Deangelo williams also signed
They're all lining up....while Bush is pulling up daisies. Note particularly Jay Cutler's deal:
(5:00 PM):Ravens top pick ends brief holdout... Baltimore has signed DT Haloti Ngata, the Ravens' #1 pick at the 2006 draft to a five-year deal, the defensive tackle's one-day holdout. Ngata, the 12th overall selection this year, is expected to report to training camp Saturday after missing both practices Friday, the first day of camp
(4:00 PM): 49ers sign top choice… San Francisco has reportedly come to terms with TE Vernon Davis, the 6th pick overall at the 2006 draft. In fact, in signing what is being reported as a 5Y, $23-25M deal, Davis is already the NFL’s highest paid TE despite the fact he has never played a down in the pros. Meanwhile, New England has reportedly signed RB Laurence Maroney, the Patriots’ #1 pick this year, while Buffalo has signed DT John McCargo, the second of two Bills’ #1 picks this year. The Bills, though, still have to sign SS Donte Whitner, their first pick this year.
(1:00 PM): Cowboys, Jags get top picks on dotted line... Dallas has reportedly signed LB Bobby Carpenter, the Cowboys' #1 at the 2006 draft. Carpenter, the 18th player chosen overall, has agreed to a five-year contract with a maximum value of $11 million, including $7.5 million in guarantees. Meanwhile, Jacksonville has signed TE Marcedes Lewis, the Jaguars first-round pick in the 2006 draft, to a five-year contract.
(10:00 AM): More 1st round picks sign… Three more players chosen in the opening round of the 2006 draft have come to terms with their respective teams. San Francisco, for example, has signed DE/LB Manny Lawson, the second of two 49ers’ #1 picks this year, while Carolina has signed RB DeAngelo Williams and Tampa Bay has signed OG Daven Joseph.
Denver has come to terms with QB Jay Cutler the 11th player selected at this year’s draft, to a deal reportedly worth up to $48M
I just came across this site which regularly updates the 1st round signings.
NFL.COM continuous update 1st round draft pick signings
Though the value may seem more than Michael Huff's, Jay Cutler's deal probably requires him to take a significant amount of snaps and success to reach some of his bonuses. With Jake Plummer as the starter and no one in front of Huff, I can bet Huff will end up with more money.
