Blessing and best wishes to Hal and his family
My hope is that he beats this nasty bastard. Football be damned at this point. Love, Light and healing to you Andre.
Sending up prayers for Hal.
After you've lost someone close because of cancer, you have a renewed enthusiasm in rooting for anyone else who's fighting. Praying for Hal.
Hodgkin's lymphoma has 80% survival rate (five year) for stage 3. Stage 2 and 1 are 90%. Much better odds than other cancers.
I hate cancer.. Don't worry Hal, you're in good hands. Cancer is horrible but if you have to go through it this is the best place in the world to live in for treatment.
Get well soon.
Damn, that sucks to hear. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Hopefully it doesn't end his career.
Yes sir I second that and best of luck to you young Mr Hal, thoughts & prayers.
Getting told you have cancer is a punch in the gut like no other. Sending best wishes and prayers to André and his family.
CND, what kind of time period are we talking about for Hal's treatment and recovery? Is this another 3 year deal like DQ's or something less?
I know this has to be a real bummer for him coming into the prime of his NFL career but he should have an excellent chance of beating this as BC eluded to in his earlier post. Does anyone know what stage he has?
It all depends on his treatment timetable...every case is different.
It's just a disgrace when a young person gets the disease. Hal is more than his career; he's an upstanding citizen. His life means more than football does.
how does this affect our starting line up on defense?
Hal was penciled as a starter ? in base defense or nickel ?
Reid and Tyrann now i guess
DQ was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma..........NOT Hodgkin's Lymphoma.......an important distinction. Most patients with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma are diagnosed at a more advanced stage. As a general rule, Hodgkin's lymphoma is considered one of the most treatable cancers. However, if diagnosed at Stage IV (not mentioned by Brisco_County), 5-year survival drops to only ~60-65%.
Depending on the location and extent of the disease, a fairly rough chemo +- radiation +- immunotherapy regimen will ensue, and will probably be performed over a period of 6-12 months. If recurrence does occur, it will usually be in the 1st 3 years post treatment.
His ability to return to football will be dependent on many factors. But if all goes well, especially with the diagnosis being made in May, he could very well complete his treatments and rehab his strength............and be available in 2019.
That's good to hear! I will pray for a speedy recovery, for his sake and for his family's.
Come on Andre, kick cancers a$$. Prayers sent for him.
Prayers for our guy. I believe the man when he says he will beat it.
