Each week I give the offense and defense a grade. (I usually grade too hard after a loss and too soft after a win.) Then I record the results on my weekly schedule print-out that is posted on my cube wall: http://skrovan.com/joe/texans It's not a heavily followed posting, but it seems very important to me. 8)

My grades for last week's game:
Offense:B+ Good run game. Did not put the game away well.
Defense:B- A few good stops in the second half.

If there is any interest, I'll start recording the average grades from this post. Thanks for your help.

I'm hopefull the return of Cushing will improve our defense, 'cause right now it sucks.

I laugh at the 9 idiots giving the offense a B. The offense gets an A and it's not even hard to grade. No AJ/JJ/DBrown and they still run with all 3 backs, make Joel Dreesen look like a probowler, no sacks, no turnovers, dominated a good defense. I mean seriously, I DARE YOU to come up with something they could've done better. Tarded ass B grade giving muffler huggers.

I gave the D a C. Average performance. This was a lot closer to D than to B as well. Played containment and pretty much got everyone except TE Miller. Decent pressure, Nolan with a few heads up picks but DAMNIT they get beat short over and freaking over again.

I gave the offense a B only because when they had a chance to put the game away in the 4th - on multiple occaisions they couldn't. Some of it may have been overly conservative play calling, but the execution was less than desirable. Otherwise, yes a solild A considering the guys that were out.

B and C, Offense was good but not great, and defense was better but still has a long ways to go to be good.

    offense - c - only b/c schaub hasn't really been clicking but 1 game.

defense - d - only b/c we've managed to come up with the big defensive plays when we need them.....except for that cowboys debacle.

That's 15 (as of now) Idiots mister!

Sure, there weren't any sacks, but there was constant penetrataion into the Offensive backfield. When Schaub spends his day scrambling, it isn't because the O-Line is dominating. Our running game was outstanding most of the day, but still hard a hard time getting 1st downs in the 4th quarter. Matt Turk needs to have <6 punts for an "A" grade in my book.

The Defense? They had some great plays, but we're still making every opposing QB look like Elway/Mariono/Montana against us. Let's hope Cushing impoves this somewhat.

I give the offense a B . The running game was stellar as was the pass protection but the Raiders secondary did a hell of a job limiting the damage.
Had the Texans been able to convert on 3rd down at a rate higher than 46% I would have given them an A. Much of the Texans troubles on 3rd down was the due to the Raiders coverage scheme's. Have to give them some credit.

The secondary held the Raiders WR's to 4 catches for a total of 38 yards.
Held McFadden to 12 carries and 47 yards , take away his long of 23 and he had 11 for 24 yards , a 2.18 average.

The LB's - especially Diles were poor in coverage tho. Their TE had a real nice game and McFadden had 6 catches for 82 yards incliding a big gain of 43.

Considering the players who were out of this game , AJ , Cushing , Brown and JJ I'm satisfied with the W.

Kubiak managed the team well - even if the challenge on the fumble was upheld. That was a chance you take in that spot. Win and you get the ball at the 20 , lose and nothing changes.

I went A & D. Our secondary is bringing down the curve (only Nolan prevented it from being an F!).

don't know how to judge this fairly. Neither O or D played consistantly through out the game. Only good thing was when one was down the other came along and picked them up. Offense did well in the 3rd quarter and D in the end of the 4th.

I have to dispute that DB , I place most of the blame for the passing yardage allowed on the LB's ..... It was the TE and Backs that did the majority of the damage.

4 catches 38 yards from the Raiders WR's ? They may as well have taken the day off.

    Offense - B

The running game was great but our WRs could have played better. Especially Jacoby who dropped a couple of passes that we really needed. In the 4th quarter, we needed 1 more time consuming drive and we couldn't get it.

    Defense - C

In the end, they got done what they needed to get done. But they gave up 24 points. That's too much.

I completely agree with you, but I will add in the fact that the WRs dropped a couple of very catchable balls too. Nonetheless, our secondary looked much better then it did the first 3 weeks.

The Texans are 4th in the league on 3rd down conversions.

Offense a C...? Really...? 3-1 with a sieve of a defense and you grade the offense a C...? Lame my friend. You can't do much more than the O has done, even if Schaub is shaky. He is still on pace for 4000 yards and more importantly 3-1.

Offense: B - I'd like to see the red zone offense improve some more.

Defense: C - Only because it has done enough for us to win 3 games. If I could I would give it a C-
