Tough talk from Kubiak gets through

I'm just so pleasantly surprised that these two seem to have finally gotten the message. Kudos extraordinaire to Kubiak.

Well, it's going to come down to them proving it. Johnson has to work harder and Mathis has to stay healthy--I guess that means work harder at conditioning, and be smarter off the field.

I believe they will, but that's like believing in a lot of things that never quite work out. I have proof (in what's been said) that they have done better for a while, but it takes a career of that kind of effort.

I'm just glad that Kubiak is drawing lines in the sand. This team needs that special effort, whether it comes from past, present, or future players.

I read the Justice column this morning. Very informative and encouraging, but the proof is in the pudding. Let's see these two perform on the field and see what happens.:pirate:

I just read the whole column. Folks. We have a football coach in Houston now. This guy gets me fired up about the potential of this team.

Two important spokes in a large wheel if these two can contribute significantly. I am going to start a thread concerning these two players from another angle.

I definitely got my reservations about Kubiak on some subjects, but these
jawboning tactics he uses on some players, epecially the underachieving high-draft picks, I'm all for because I think they are effective.

Did anyone else see the title of this thread and think "Justice actually wrote something useful?"?

there's a quote a couple years ago from john lynch when talking about the possibility of kubiak becoming a head coach and the effect was "kubiak's a well reserved guy and a great teacher, he doesnt have to yell often ... but when kubiak yells, even the defense stops." i love hearing things like this about a coach, he really seems to command a lot of respect and knows how to speak to each player in order to get the most from them.

I like how he calls everyone "kid" no matter how old they are, as in Mark Breuner is a great kid. What does that makes Bruener's kids, tiny people?:splits:

No, because I had seen no other signs of the apocalypse to go along with it.

The Twilight Zone theme started playing in the background.

I like what we're hearing so far, but obviously proof is in the puddding.
