Someone needs to have a serious talk with O’Brien, and bluntly tell him that his lack of actual scheme/identity circus has gone on for far too long.

What we saw in 2017 was all Watson improvising as he had the freedom to run the plays he felt comfortable with. The success he had before he tore his ACL was in spite of O’Brien, not because of him. Now O’Brien gets a taste of success because of Watson and he thinks he can go back to his retarded “Game plan per opponent” bullsh1t, and the offense all of a sudden looks like it always has under him since 2014.

It’s clear that he’s way in over his head, and he needs a reality check. He’s not Belichick, and he’ll never be Belichick. He’s just not NFL Head Coach material.

You guys can keep giving him all the passes y’all want. I’m out...

    FIRE O’BRIEN!

Pretty sure that Watson wasn't drawing up plays in the huddle last year. Of course BOB got the O on the same page and should be credited for installing an offense the Watson could succeed in. Teams have film on him and are are giving W different looks and our OT's are arguably playing worse than they did last year so it isn't shocking that we didn't pick up right where we left off w/ W last year. But we shouldn’t have regressed to how we looked in game 1 last year vs Jacksonville. The biggest problem I have with BOB is his lack of aggression. You know our OT’s are struggling. Call a QB draw or designed bootleg keeper followed by a similar look where W dumps it off. Give them something to be concerned about so they can’t tee off with their pass rush and get them on their heels until you can get your passing game going. Again and again he comes into games with something in his head that worked when he was coaching Brady only to figure out by half time that it isn’t working. Be smarter than that. Know going into the game that your OT’s can’t hold blocks for 2 seconds – don’t get taken off guard by it. This offense can still be as good as it was last year but BOB is going to have to be much more aggressive. I don’t think he has this in his nature though and it’s why I think he’s got to go.

I somewhat agree. He’s just a stubborn sumbetch who insists on doing what New England does, even though it’s obviously NOT WORKING! It sickens me to see what Andy Reid is doing with Mahommes, and then I imagine how good Watson would probably look operating Reid’s offense compared to this inexcusable mess O’Brien has created in Houston. I wish we could steal a real HC from somewhere, but O’Brien may go on to finish his extension, and maybe even get a new one. Smh

Reid did let Mahomes sit and learn last season. # Avoided injuries.

Mahomes is also playing on a much better franchise across the board. That offense was legit without him, defense is solid, and ST are dangerous. Watson has to win games for us, Mahomes has to not lose games for them.

    --

Watching the game, the offense looked terrible. Yeah stats were put up/padded but the flow of the offense was bad. Why draft TEs and not use them to help our sturggling tackles? Why are the RB/TE not chipping on the end? It baffles me that we know our OT can't pass block but we don't help them. We need a body at the end of the line every play; worst case it opens a lane for DW4 to scramble though, best case we have a pocket. LOTS of room for improvement in game plan and execution.

While Keke was out, Carter was able to contribute. The minute Keke returns, Carter disappears from the offense. Yet we run 3 and 4 WR sets. I never felt DT was integrated in the offense. We go games without throwing to the rookie TEs. Our offensive formations doesn’t seem to take advantage of down and distance. See empty backfield on 4th and 1 while Colts are spying Watson.

I’m starting to think O’Brien’s game plan offense is not attacking a team’s defensive weaknesses or scheme. The game plan is to run the ball, pass 25 times a game while targeting Hopkins on 50 to 75% of the passes.

I don’t think that game plan works against the better teams and O’Brien’s record against winning teams is the proof.

And that flow has been bad all season, and it's because they get behind schedule so often, 2nd and long, 3rd and long. Texans had the 5th worst average yards gained on 1st down. Hell, their 2nd play of the game was 2nd and 10. 45% of their 2nd downs were 10 yards to go or more yesterday. Hard to flow like that. Especially with a bad o-line and a defense knowing you're more likely to throw on 2nd and long.

Aaron Colvin healthy scratch in favor of Shareece Wright was a god damn disgrace.

Bill OBrien getting surprised by the old ass Tampa 2 was a god damn disgrace.

O'Brien dialing up bad pass plays on first down only to then run up the middle on 2nd down by 3 scores is a god damn disgrace.

Most painfully for me was watching Watson get swallowed up by a more prepared team/defense and sink further and further into the quicksand.

Accountability starts at the top and Bill OBrien **** the bed yesterday.

Those are facts ... Let the OBrien reach around squad spin it how they want.

"Duur duur no offensive line, no cornerbacks, give Gaine a chance"

**** all that. Disgusting job of preparing a team for a playoff game and then did y'all see the body language during post game presser? Hands in his pockets .. swaying side to side. He knew he fucked it all up, but still some of the pathetic supporters of this man will still say he's the best chance this team has.

    Pathetic.

Indy didn't score in the 2nd half .. where is the offensive genius? Oh yes now it's Watson's fault and the Oline AND Rick Smith .. disgusting

Not what I'm saying at all...

we all (or most of us here and on social media) expected that Watson would take his normal super-human play to a new level and save the Texans from themselves. Instead he played like a young inexperienced QB... how many easy open throws did he miss? He'll learn from it and hopefully the defnse won't put the offense in two minute mode in the first quarter. NONW of the Houston Texans Orig. had a good day. All deserve some of the blame for the debacle

Nah JB there are no excuses to defend that poor excuse of a coaching job yesterday. None. If your an OBrien supporter (generally speaking not you directly) then this is the part where you disconnect for a while because NOTHING was defendable from yesterday. NOTHING.
