Game 14...Not This Week...Jacksonville Jaguars!

JamTex

Hall Of Fame Texans Fan!
On Sunday, December 17th at 12 noon central time, the Texans will take on the Jaguars at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. The game will be aired locally in Houston on FOX 26.
Even with TJ Yates at the helm, Blake Bortles and his Jaguars will beat the Texans handily.
I'm of the opinion that the Texans need to start pulling their most important players from these last 3 games to prevent them from suffering unnecessary injuries in a losing season.
Too many Texans have already fallen and at least 1 may have played his last game at a very young age.
This season is a lost cause. Just get into the off season, acquire players via free agency and draft, and get the core players healthy and ready for next year.
Texans lose this one with or without the few core players they have left.

Texans 17
Jaguars 32

OK, "kitties" and "tits" can battle it out this season to see who will win the division! But, next season, it's on! Texans will be taking back the division so get ready you 2 to scrap it out for 2nd place! :D

This game:
Texans 10
"kitties" 24

Do we still have Johnson as the 3rd stringer? 10 sacks in the 1st game. I don't see how it's not something similar in this one. Better give Lechler some reps this week.

Will I watch the slaughter? I don't know. We take it on the chin again.

Toros 13
Leopards 31

Im torn....... see the Texans lose or possibly help the Titans..

Not that I see us winning this one...... but neither outcome is exactly favorable.

The excitement level for this season doesn't exist anymore. All we expect of the Texans is to lose. It's a sad affair when this is all we have to look forward to. Another loss.
There are 2 games left after this one and I will deliver and write the last 2 weekly game threads. Even though it's impossible to deliver a positive, fun thread.
With 2 weeks left after this game, we can finally move on to next year.
The injuries that have plagued the Texans this year, fortunately or rather, unfortunately, occurred early in the season which will allow for complete recovery before the off season gets under way.
Key players should return healthy and hungry to win next year.
Watt, Mercilus, Foreman and Watson being the most important returns, among others.
Hopefully, management will see its way clear to picking up some good reinforcements for the O-line, secondary and tight ends through free agency and the draft in the off season.
This year is a wash but there is allot to be excited about next year.
Let's just hope that the injury bug will leave the building before next season and allow our Texans to have a magic season.

GO TEXANS!

The Colts and Texans should both be back next season since Watson and Luck will both be ready to go.....but, that's where I temper the excitement. Both teams find themselves in this mess due to, poor OL play, bad defense and quality depth that is sorely missed. The Colts will be in a better position to address their needs in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Jags and Titans will not regress next season which could have the Texans fighting to stay out of the cellar even with Watson back on the field. My opinion could change but that will be completely dependent on what RS does this coming off-season. Let's wait and see what unfolds.

Unfortunately Houston is the capital of ... not just the world, not only the solar system, not even merely the galaxy, but the universe for pro football injuries. It's been that way since the inception of this franchise. If it isn't Watt, Mercilus, and Watson it will just be some other key people on IR.

The Jaguars have trounced the Steelers on the road (30-9) and they beat the Seahawks in their last game. Two legitimate Super Bowl contenders they have out-played this season.

The Jaguars would be 10-4 if they beat the Texans and they can still clinch home field advantage and a bye week in the AFC Playoffs. I'm not saying they're going to beat the Patriots or Steelers in the playoffs, but if they play at home they can gives themselves a chance to advance deep in the playoffs.

All the attention and hype is on that Patriots and Steelers game, but the Jaguars are a dangerous team in the AFC and they may just steal the home field advantage and first-round bye away from the loser of that Patriots vs. Steelers game.

I dunno but I sure hope rookie OT Davenport who's missed several games becuase of a shoulder injury can play in Jacksonville Sunday because I want to see him maul Cliaus Campbell.

I was so looking forward to a revenge game. Lol but that's not about to happen. These jokers are about to beat the dog crap out of us.

It's a divisional game... maulings don't usually happen, especially twice in one year

It's gonna happen this Sunday.

This is really simple a really good football team is playing a really bad football team.

There was an article on ESPN.com discussing the best potential head coaching vacancies this off-season...

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21759278/ranking-best-nfl-potential-head-coach-openings-2018

The Texans were #1 on the list. Did I miss something? I thought Bill O'Brien had job security and was getting a free pass for all of the key injuries? There shouldn't be anything "potential" about it. He's here to stay especially for 2018.

I actually think Bill O'Brien and Deshaun Watson can be a great long-term success. They both showed a lot of promise together in 2017. O'Brien just has to do a better job with his playcalling late in games. Those two nailbiting losses against the Patriots and Seahawks on the road - the ball was in Watson's hands with the lead during crunch time - when all we needed was a first down to win the game. And he elects for a Lamar Miller run up the gut on third down. I just never understood those play calls.

But I don't think firing O'Brien and hiring somebody else is the answer. Staying healthy and improving our past mistakes (O'Brien isn't an idiot and can learn), would seem to help this team a lot more than cleaning house yet again.

I totally agree with this post.

It's gonna get worse before it gets better.

One thing's for sure Ricky isn't the man to rebuild this team.

If the Texans merely stay healthy in 2018 I can show you an 11-5 or 10-6 team playing a last-place schedule. Even with our problems on the offensive line. Deshaun Watson is that good. Having a healthy Watt and Mercilus would be icing on the cake. But if we only have Deshaun Watson starting games (no Watt or Mercilus) we're still capable of competing against the best competition and winning any game. Much less beating the bad football teams. There's no rebuilding involved. The Texans problems this season have been key injuries, PERIOD!

I may agree with you if we hadn't traded up for Deshaun Watson in the last draft. Things would appear to be very bleak and I'd be all on board for firing Rick Smith and Bill O'Brien. But we added a superstar in Deshaun Watson who was on pace to shatter every single rookie record before his season-ending ACL injury. It happened in a non-contact practice drill of all things! But firing our GM or head coach isn't the answer for us right now. Unless you want to take two unnecessary steps back this off-season?

I just hope Ricky isn't counting on Watt/Watson/Foreman playing at their highest level next yr.
With all the surgery I can see Watt being above average at best. Most of us know he wont be anywhere near his old self but will still give Olinemen something to think about. And according to the history of Foreman's injury and his position he wont be back to himself either. Watson, thankfully, should be back to his old dynamic self.

If we know that I'm sure the FO knows this as well and will take steps to soften the blow accordingly. Whether or not they make the right decisions is the argument. Hopefully your boy Rick pulls a rabbit out of the hat

Hopefully Watson makes it back healthy which will probably happen. What I have doubts about is his ability to stay healthy. He has Bridgewater's legs.

The Vikings with 5 guys on IR, that Vikings.

Lol, lol, lol...

Including 2qb's

Their OL has been hurt

DB'S have missed a lot of time.

How about the Pats they have all of their WR's hurt. OL is hurt, Missing 2LB's., DL hurt.
Gronk hurt and suspended missing time
The Texans are like the Pats. Lol

The Texans have won four games and are likely to not win another this season. As to next season maybe Watson will become our hero, maybe he'll get injured again, who knows? The train wrecking dumpster fire that is the Texans organization does not inspire me with hope.

The Vikings do not have the amount of players on IR like we do. Especially players that are impact players like Watt and Watson.

The Patriots are very good at replacing players. That's their identity. We're talking about the best coach and QB of all times. That team is well coached.

Not only that, we lead the known universe in concussions.

This is all I'm trying to say.

Depending on Watson to be the savior of this franchise, while having had 2 ACL surgeries is unrealistic and not fair to Watson. In addition to showing that the kool-aid is tasting pretty good around these parts now.

I think Watson can come back in fine shape. How long he stays that way behind our line is an entirely different question though.

RB up the middle had no chance to succeed in crunch time. That's just what the D was prepared to stop. Watson should have sprinted out both times on a run-or-pass option. That would cater to his running talent, and if they covered that, throw short to the TE or back. If OB was going to learn, it should have been long ago. I think they're already talking about replacing him.

I agree. That run up the gut in both games wasn't smart. Especially with Lamar Miller. I don't know what Bill O'Brien was thinking. We could have beaten the Patriots and Seahawks on the road with one more first down or one more better play call in either game.

If O'Brien does stay and we find ourselves in the same situation next season, I'd like to think he won't blow it for a third time in a row? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.

This 2017 season went down the drain anyways. Had Deshaun Watson not gotten hurt, we'd probably have one more win than the Titans right now and be fighting for a wild-card spot. Those two heartbreaking losses against the Patriots and Seahawks would have loomed large and cost us some good playoff seeding, but this Texans versus Jaguars game would have meant something important this weekend.

Boy, wouldn't that be the kettle calling the pot black if RS was sitting in the room discussing how the team should replace O'Brien?

If there are any discussions of replacing OB then RS is involved unless a decision has already been made to fire him. If we were more normal the decision would be his primarily.

There's no doubt in my mind they're thinking about replacing him. I don't remember McNair ever saying anything publically that even remotely indicated OB is here for the long term. But he constantly showers Rick Smith with praise (and contract extensions) every chance he gets. I believe Rick Smith has much more influence on this franchise than we know and if he doesn't want OB around any longer (and I don't think he does) OB is gone.

Then lets just say, there should be a mirror on the table so RS can take a long hard look at himself when he thinks the team would be better with a new HC...of his choosing.

With a 4-9 record and very likely a final record of 4-12 and Billy in his 4th year notwithstanding his winning records & division championships in prior years of course it's a topic of conversation in the McNair household.
Personally I think they will keep him but somebody who is far more adroit than I around this website should initiate a poll to test our collective wisdom.

Didn't some around here have Clowney never amounting to much because of injury concerns? How about letting the man get more than 6 games in before tossing him to injury bust pile?

I'm not throwing him in the injury bust pile. I'm saying that it's unrealistic to expect DW$ to carry this franchise coming off injury with very little help.

Personally I want them to let OB finish out his contract and see if he can create some magic with Watson, there's just nothing out there that indicates to me they want him hanging around after this season. It's just hard for me to believe they're oblivious to the fact people, media and fans alike are openly pondering O'Brien's future but neither McNair nor Smith are giving O'Brien an inkling of confidence. O'Brien is swinging by a rope and blondie has rode off.

Someone, I can't remember who recently wrote, and I'm paraphrasing, Watson doesn't care what happens with O'Brien. Shortly after that comment Watson openly spoke up in defense of O'Brien. He wants O'Brien to stay. Thing is, I don't think McNair cares what Watson or any of the players want. After all, they're just "inmates" and he won't have them running the "prison".
