Why take Bush when we can get a RB with similar skills in the 3rd, or 4th, round? And, he's better built for the pounding of the NFL. Just think of all the times that J.J. ran into a pile, while returning kicks, & suddenly popped out of nowhere to reel off a 50 yard return. Imagine how exciting it'll be to pull for the "Little Big Man". 5'6" 207lbs. & he considers himself to be a power runner with speed. Ya' gotta' love him. :D

bush will be drafted for his playmaking abilities in all areas of offense and the fact that he'll create chaos for the defense. if you don't draft bush, no reason to draft drew.

    Mods,

Why was the article cut short & quoted? It actually had an interesting story about him that showed his strong ties to his family.

We don't allow people to post entire articles of copyrighted material. It's just a policy of the official board. Basically if it's not an article from HoustonTexans.com then you shouldn't be posting the entire article.

Okay. Sorry about that. I guess I should read the rules every once in a while.

Maurice Drew??? Reggie Bush??? How about we stick with Domanick Davis and Vernon Morency. In Kubiak's offense Domanick will be a Pro-Bowl RB and Morency will gain about 600 on the ground next year as a back-up. Why use the #1 on a Running Back when we have larger problems like QB, OL, and CB... Just my opinion. Plus we have 4 very talented recievers this year so no need to spend 65 million on Bush, those guys will be just fine.

Finally someone speaks with some actual sense around this place. We have two runningbacks more than capable of getting the job done. Hmm...let's see...we have a quarterback who can't though, and that's a proven fact. Our running game was so bad because our passing game was non-existent. That was due to DC holding the ball for an eon because he couldn't read the defense quick enough and get rid of the ball...thus our defense played 3 quarters and were constantly finding themselves defending a short field due to David either getting sacked and fumbling or David throwing it up for grabs. I'm tired of hearing about how bad our offensive line is. The average NFL quarterback only has 3 to 4 seconds to get rid of the football or he's going to be sacked. The way you cut down the pass rush is to burn the blitzing defenses with quick precise passes that lead to big plays. That means you have to make good quick decisions on where to go with the football and that comes from making great reads at the line of scrimmage before the ball's snapped, thank you.

And you have no clue what you're talking about. On passing downs, Carr was getting about 1.5 seconds to get rid of the ball. The OL was a sieve for D'Linemen, LB's, & safeties. Until the OL starts giving Carr the 3-4 seconds you're talking about, not even the best QB's of all time could do much more than he has. And that's a proven fact, jack.

I'm starting to hate the thought of either Bush, or Young, on the Texans.

Drew can be had in the 3rd or 4th round. DD & Morency have almost identical styles. Drew would give us a nice change of pace with his speed. The nice thing about Drew is that he's got RB speed, but has the power & strength to run up the middle, for a fraction of the cost of RB.

I am not saying Drew is a bad player, in fact I like Drew the most out of all the backs this year, HE reminds me of Barry way more than Bush. Both wer 5'8 and both have legs the sized of a mack truck. Did you guys see him in the combine film from NFL.com, on one drill he went made a cut left by accident and his redirection/cut back to the correct direction made my mouth drop, I swear he looked like Barry it really freaked me out.

He carried a "pretty big load" at UCLA? That big load was to the tune of 582, 1007, and 914 rushing yards in his three seasons and an average of 160 carries per season, hardly any kind of heavy rushing load.

sry but i was at the Sun Bowl (UCLA vs. Northwestern) and Drew was FAR from being Barry Sanders or Reggie Bush. granted he got hurt or sumthin but he got shown up by his 2nd and 3rd string RB's. only time i have seen him in person so i did not get a good impression.
