You have to pay top talent and there is cap space to do the extensions. Plus the cap goes up every yr. With the new CBA the cap is likely to go up more than normal.

    Don't fret this.

This is a 1 yr hit.

It won't affect the cap next year.

Find something that might actually hurt the team to ***** about.

Exactly but like I mentioned before Steel is on board with this because Obrien is doing things his way. He's always wanted to over spend and Mortgage the future for who he thinks or want on this team.

You do know that unused cap space rolls over to the following year right ?

This will have an impact on the future because of that fact ….

What could you do with an extra $16m next offseason when you don't have a #1 to play with.

That is essentially Watson on another year on a rookie scale contract.

Basically...Alot of what's going on now has to do with money re-allocation for the protection of the future of our franchise for at least the next 10 years in DW4. Those bent out of shape over the next couple of drafts & dead cap space are only looking at the short term.

New direction? No GM, no offensive coordinator, no offensive playcaller, still on the sidelines wearing someone else's hat when he should be making crucial decisions (Shane Lechler not around to bail him out anymore), mortgaging our future for one fairly unproven offensive lineman who gave up a sack in game 1 against a weak rusher, losing the best run defender in the league, interior line is still a joke (and getting paid for it) and have no coaching, calls are between silly and moronic (should've been slapped for the second flip to Stills), dead cap money is on the rise, inconsistency with position groups is still the trend.

But we shot ourselves in the foot for one lineman - new direction.

    Fair enough,

Be reasonable about your criticisms the team lost, but they were 6 seconds away fom beating a team that should've been in the SB last yr in prime time.

They certainly didn't lay the egg in primetime that many here predicted.

Sure they were, but you know what, they're still 0-1. I've made several comments how they did more than I expected, how it was actually an exiting game for a change, but in the end, it's another loss. The shoulda/coulda/woulda's don't cut it.

You want to turn things around, that's the game you need to win and they didn't.

Just finished the all-22 and as I pointed out in the OL thread, they weren't good, particularly Henderson. And honestly, Tunsil looked average at best, but I'll give him the benefit of doubt since he's only been here a week. But Henderson isn't the answer at RT so we'll see how long it takes for somebody to figure that out. Probably won't be until after they give him an extension though.

Stop. I rewatched the game as well & Outside of the 1st 2 drives, Henderson was relatively solid. Cam Jordan wasn't heard from a whole lot after those initial drives. & 2 of the longest runs of the night for both Duke & Hyde came off of seal blocks executed by Martin. The o-line played pretty well considering where they were playing & it was the 1st time that unit had played together. Alot of the issues they had mostly had to do with crowd noise and the newness of the group playing together for the 1st time. NO took advantage of that. They were also blitzing alot...they sent TONS of delayed blitzes b/c they couldn't consistently get home with just the 4 man rush........which is what was happening all last year. The only real significant weak spot was Kelemete who got put on his ass at least once that i recall after i rewatched the game specifically looking at the o-line.

The qb hits and sack numbers are somewhat overblown imo. Only a select few of those hits & sacks were legit where guys just got beat & were overmatched & All qb hits are not equal. FFS, Watson's knee grazing the defender as he jumped into the end zone on a designed run technically counts as a qb hit. A bunch of other hits he took came off of secondary rushes after 2-3 seconds b/c DW4 was holding the ball.

Might not have layed that type of egg but they still layed a egg. You get my drift.

This is the 4th time we lost like this to an elite competitor. It's called a trend.

LMFAO!! More proof that some of you need to stop watching games under whatever influence it is you are.

Thanks for the laugh man, that was great. If you think that was a solid performance, all I can say is bless your little heart. Dude was getting beat one on one and slow to pick up stunts all freaking night long. Have no idea what the hell you were watching.

Overall, they looked like a unit that has never played together. Maybe that gets better over time, but also it's something that should have been taken care of in the summer. Too busy playing musical chairs with that, I guess. But Seantrell Henderson was not good in that game. At all.

I didn't read the sarcasm or see your follow up post ….

I think most of us are in agreement with Scooter on that subject.
