2018 was a mirage.....in all seriousness and I'm not trying to make anyone angry, the Texans were probably one of the worst 11-5 teams since the NFL went to the 16 game schedule.

Could they improve substantially in 2019? I think they could if Gaine pulls off a successful draft and off-season. They could wind up being a much, much better 10-6 team than the 11-5 team of last year.

They could be right but also for some reason none of the sports experts ever give the Texans much credit for anything. I can't think of one game the Texans have won, in any year, that most experts weren't saying it was due to the other team making a mistake rather than the Texans playing a good game. That's not just an issue since BoB came along either, I remember thinking the same thing when Kubiak was here. For a team that's only been around for 16 years we actually are doing an amazing job so maybe its just they don't like the idea of the new kids on the block beating up on the old guard.

Don't know, but if there are way off any smart bettor can go in and clean them up.

Tweet from @riversmccown: Last season, the Texans made zone runs their bread and butter despite the fact that they couldn’t run zone to save their lives. https://twitter.com/riversmccown/status/1093154850160791553

    https://www.riversmccown.com/2019/0...heir-running-offense-more-consistent-in-2019/

How can the Texans make their running offense more consistent in 2019?

Yes, the Houston Texans were a zone running team that could not run zone to save their lives in 2018. The funniest part about this chart is that you can draw a direct axis to games they ran for 100 yards and how likely it was they ran Power — only 14 of their Power runs came in the seven games they didn’t reach 100 yards rushing.

While charting blown blocks is a highly subjective thing, and the Texans offensive problems go beyond just blown blocks, I think it is instructive to focus on Nick Martin here. Martin is the one player on the line that I think escaped most criticism, but he had more blown blocks than any lineman that ran zone for the Texans last year.

Watched a Brian Billick video on zone running vs power and he said for power blocking, give me good players, for zone blocking, give me good coaches. He didn't say what to do if you have neither.

Another reason I changed direction with my mock drafts by adding OC/OG, Erik McCoy- Texas A&M instead of another OT. I've not been sold on the play of Martin. McCoy, if he was drafted and given a chance to compete could replace Martin by game one. He's smart and plays with a nasty streak which this OLneeds if they want to change the look of their running game.

14 is about 10 spots too high. OB sucks as a HC and he's worse than that as an OC.

What are you talking about, the Texans have been picked and been favorites of the media numerous times only for us to roll out steaming piles like the letter jacket game and smear egg on all of their faces. The Texans have always been the boy who cries wolf. If I was in the national media I wouldn't be on the bandwagon, I mean I'll just play the odds here.

Also.. what do you mean by "For a team that's only been around for 16 years we actually are doing an amazing job"? In what world have we done a "amazing job"?

Last year several talking heads were very high on the Texans. Mainly because of what Watson showed in his rookie year. So I'm trying to figure out what Maverick was talking about to.
