CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme will miss the rest of the season after deciding to undergo surgery on his right elbow.

Coach John Fox said Monday that Delhomme had trouble throwing the ball earlier in the day. Delhomme then made the decision to have surgery next week.

Delhomme sustained what the team called a strained right elbow when he was sacked in Carolina's win over Atlanta on Sept. 23. David Carr replaced him the last two games, when Delhomme was listed as the No. 3 quarterback as he considered whether to have surgery.

Delhomme was off to a good start. He had completed 64 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and one interception.

The move leaves the Panthers in need of another quarterback. Carr suffered a back injury in the Panthers' win over New Orleans Sunday and his status for next week's game at Arizona is uncertain.

Well let's see if David can be the man there now...it's his team.

wow man. that is about the same predicament I find myself in. Just substitute a Carr-addled Smith with an injury-addled Boldin and go ahead and add a Bulger to your problem.

LT is showing some life but he aint hitting the end zone enough. Marvin has been a bust especially when you consider he started the season with a huge TD from Peyton in their 1st possesion of the year. Luckily, I drafted Dallas Carter as my #2 TE in like our 15th Round. He has been a god send.

Andre was blowing up for us early but he should be back soon, and its obvious that Schaub is gonna feed him the ball based on the 1st 2 games.

If you have some decent depth you should be ok. I have had Lynch, Carter, Edgerrin, and Favre all step up for me and if I can get 22 points out of a combination of Crayton for Dallas and Lynch for Buffalo I will be 4-1.

sorry about the temporary thread hijack :)

Schaub > Carr Texans > Panthers

GO TEXANS. KICK THE JAGUARS ARSE!!

The Panthers will have a Top 5 pick if Carr is the QB for the rest of the year.

I agree. The thing that makes my predicament worse in my one league is that 2 weeks ago I had a guy offer me Ronnie Brown and Welker for S. Smith. I said no, that he was too valuable a receiver. I would look like a fantasy genius right now.

The Panthers will be fine. They just need to surround Carr with some more offensive weapons and better pass protection.

I donno why...he's been a good QB over there. it's not a coincidence that Jake had 8 TD's and 1 pick and 1 sack with Steve Smith as one of the most dangerous players in the game with the Panthers scoring around 24 points per game and Carr playing against awful defenses has multiple sacks, 2TD's and 2 INT's with the Panthers only scoring sparse points (against the worst pass defenses in football) and Smith having to take 5 yard passes to the house if he wants to score.

Don't forget that there receivers can't get open deep either & their running game is awful. Their playcalling could use some work. What's with all the 5 yard dump offs?

It was hilarious when the back up comes in and throws a beautiful pass deep in the seam for a 40-something yard completion....but the WR's can't get open for Carr.

    Somebody hates these cans!

    sincerly,
    the jerk
