IRVING - The Cowboys released veteran safety Marcus Coleman on Friday.

Coleman has been serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The Cowboys said they would like to re-sign Coleman at a later date, depending on his availability.

The Cowboys had a one-week roster exemption for Coleman, meaning he wouldn’t count against the 53-man roster, but decided to waive him.

    Houston, again.
Dang...that sucks. If he was playing he was good for at least 2 TDs by us.

Let's not deride Coleman too much. He was a good not great CB thru most of his career. He was a gambler who really shined in the 2004 season. The idea of moving him to FS made perfect sense--play the field, see where you can make plays. Unfortunately his personal issues and lack of faith in the team made the transition to FS a failure. IMO Capers' failure can't be illustrated more than the DB corps. Just because you bring Buchanon in as a rehab project you don't make a vet like Glenn insecure until he has actually been beatin out.

Our secondary decisions have been nightmares. Let McCree go. Let Kenny Wright go. Move Coleman to FS intead of nickle or dime. Let Aaron go. Great-now we have sure tackler after the catch McCleon and stone hands Sanders.
