I thought Reliant sponsored The Texans and was owned by Bob McNair?
Reliant is one of the Texans' sponsors, but I don't think McNair owns them. I guess they would be free to sponsor other teams if they want to.
FYI Reliant has a large customer base in North Texas, just as Dallas-based TXU has same in the Houston-area. And no Mcnair doesn't own Reliant, it's a publicly-owned corporation.
The Cowboys want to be like the Texans so bad THEY paid reliant to use their name.
NRG Energy, publicly traded as NRG:NYSE, owns Reliant Energy.
Bob McNair owns the Texans, is Chairman and CEO of The McNair Group, and owns Palmetto Partners.
The texans are built on "Enron" money. Kinda ironic we were built by money from a fraud company and we looked like a fraud 12-2 team on sunday
McNair made his bucks on Co-gen IIRC and sold it to ENRON shortly before that company collapsed. He was offered a position on their board I believe but turned it down. Reliant paid a huge amount to sponsor Texans. Some newer sponsors:
Reliant paid $300m for 32 years. Following is link to more info than most people ever want to know.
