Breakdown: The Texans are determined to start better, as they have played well at the end of recent seasons, but it hasn't meant much because of slow starts. Three out of four at home should be favorable, though the first four are no cakewalk: Jets, at Titans, Jacksonville and Oakland.

They'll be upset they drew just one prime time game, but it's a biggie. Last year when the Titans visited, Houston pulled the upset at Reliant Stadium. This time the second matchup of the season will be "Monday Night Football" on Nov. 23, with the Texans coming off Week 10 bye.

If the Texans are to be the breakthrough team that many are forecasting, their finale could be a must-win, and New England is a tough draw even at home.

    They finish at New England.

The Texans' opponents combined for a .506 winning percentage last year, meaning this ranks as the league's 15th toughest schedule.

Complaint department: In exchange for the heavy-at-home start comes a stretch that seems a little extreme -- four out of five on the road with trips to Arizona and Cincinnati before a respite at home against San Francisco and then trips to Buffalo and Indianapolis.

Bunched up: The Texans need to play better in the division to have a chance at a playoff spot, and they drew four AFC South games in a row, with a bye mixed in, starting on Nov. 8. It's generally better to have those games spaced out a little. Teams shouldn't be able to play twice inside a month, but the Texans-Colts matchups are just three weeks apart.

Sure beats the opening four games from last season.

Out of 16 games, we have four-out-of-five on the road--the "bunched up" part that he talks about--but I'll take this particular bunched-up scenario in comparison to what we had in our first 4 games of last season.

At the risk of sounding cold and harsh, to those who live in Houston and had to endure the hurricane, the brutal nature of what that did to our team MIGHT end up hardening our guys when the season kicks off. Outside of season-ending injuries that might happen to our star players, there's not much that's going to cause our team to implode this time around.

There won't be any scape goats for this team THIS season. The schedule is very friendly, IMO, when considering the competitiveness of our opponents.

Winning at New England would be awesome. And if we entered the playoffs, as well, it would be a sign that the Texans have made real strides. Once you kick the "moral victory" habit, you enter a whole new level. Suddenly, the planes begin delivering higher-profiled free agents that might not have listed us as a possible destination on their itinerary.

I like reading Kuharsky's stuff. It's amazing what can happen when a person actually uses a blog for the right reasons.

The last game this year they have to come to Reliant but I agree that winning at New England would be awesome.

I don't know why everyone is riding the Jets. Their D will be good later on in the year, but what do they have on offense?

Maybe not the right thread, but it certainly doesn't deserve its own thread.

Did anyone catch the bit on NFL network last night when they unveiled the new Kyle Orten #8 Broncos jersey in Denver last night. The announcer was trying to make such a big deal out of it, and the crowd was pretty luke warm, IMO.

Really, what were they thinking??? LOL.

No, I didn't catch that but I bet it was pretty damn funny.

They hold up the jersey and the crowd gives a collective "meh...." Probably didn't do wonders for Orton's pysche, either.
