Well time to look at the other guys available. I wasn't expecting the Texans to sign him anyway.

    One down

    Several more to go

Hope the Texans step up to the plate and sign a quality vet CB.

This is great. I didn't want him here at this stage of his career.

If Denver has a quick turn around like some other teams have had into contenders recently then this might work out well.

Its because McNair is cheap and Kubiak is a crap coach and Mario is a bust.....

Otherwise we would of got him.

    LOL

Waiting to see what they do in the draft and FA before I make any judgements.

Here is how I feel about guys like this: Logically I wouldn't want him because of age and price for that age. He has slowed down some. BUT logic flies out the window with the Texans. You haven't made the playoffs in 9 years. Gary may or may not be on the hot seat. If you listen to Bob this is the last chance..like the last, last chance. So why not get a guy who is alot better than what you have. Get him for 2 good years and then see what happens if you still have a job. If I were them I'd go after any upgrade that you can financially afford. I just don't think that is how the Texans operate. To them it is still this slow, climbing plan and a guy like Champ might take time away from a young guy learning

EDIT: I'm seeing some below here talking about the inability to talk to him. I know this but my point above is what I think the mentality needs to be on guys like this or any FA that is available now...Rogers...or in the future.

We also have to take into consideration that really nobody is a free agent right now and that if the texans try to do something, they could lose draft picks.

I do feel you though Houston Frog. IMO, because of all the players that are/will be available you could actually justify your unwillingness to spend cash before by saying "okay, we've saved money all those years because we wanted to be financially prepared for when a free agent market like this one came up. There for we were able to sign 3 or 4 good players that can bring immediate impact to need positions. So please don't get mad if we draft a QB in the second round. "

If he does 1-2 years as a CB and then plays a few at FS, then its a good sign. He can train his replacement then give you some leadership in the tail end of his career. Good job by Denver.

This. Nobody but the Broncos could talk to him right now. They got a deal done. The Texans had zero ability to even make an effort to get him. And yet somebody will end up saying the Texans failed by not getting him.

    Yup

The CBA obviously had a lot to do with him staying. Plus, the Broncos are giving him like 20+ million in guarantees. He might be good for a year or two, but that's a crapload of money in addition to his salary.

Poor Champ Bailey, selling out to a team going nowhere... I guess 'play in a Super Bowl' isn't on his list of things to do before he retires.
