Interesting as I thought he was in solid here and Texans wanted him to remain

This was an entirely "lateral" job change. Should be evident that he wanted out of here. And his reasons for this would have to start with the boss immediately above him that he had to report to.

Well, there's a possible solution for our lack of offseason acquisitions

#Bills announced they are hiring Brian Gaine as their new VP of Player Personnel. Big hire in Buffalo… very difficult reality for #Texans.

Bills announce they've hired Texans exec Brian Gaine as VP of player personnel. Gaine was huge in bridging coaching and scouting in Houston.

Brian Gaine was a major contributor to Texans' personnel dept should be a big asset to the Bills in new job

You know things can really implode this season, something tells me Rick doesn't play nice with others.

Or Brian Gaine got the chance to work for a team closer to home. I would jump at a chance to return to my native state, be closer to family and still do a job I enjoy.

From a very well-respected, well-connected person that deals only with insider information regarding the business aspects of college and NFL football.

I don't think it's that simple. Where there's smoke there's fire. There's a obvious schism going on over there on Kirby.. Rumors were already getting leaked out last season. Of course everyone towed the company line and denied it, but you can just sense tension.

Oh well, winning is a great cologne..for their sake I hope everything falls in place and we come out of the gate swinging...because if we don't and the truck ends up in the ditch, it's going to get UUUUGLLY.

Big loss for us. Gaine has interviewed multiple times for a GM job and been passed over. He's got a new job title now so maybe he thinks if he can help turn around Buffalo it'll help him get a GM job quicker than staying here where we've had more success than the Bills the last several years.

Still a stretch. Nothing there suggests Gaines had issues with Smith. So what the 49ers thought they could get O"b & Gaines. First, we have a poster here saying O"b is pissed he didn't get to bring in his own personnel guy, but we're supposed to believe O"b & Gaines are peas in a pod?

Then many a poster here would take baby Shany over O"b, but we're supposed to believe the 49ers we're waiting on O"b to be available & not on Atlanta to be eliminated.

    :ok:

We have no first or second round pick next year, plus we're gonna be cap constrained after signing Hopkins and Clowney.

There isn't much for him to do.

He is not going down with this ship.

There was no opportunity for his career to advance with Rick Smith firmly planted. FO intrigue or not, the move makes sense.
