If I was in BB's shoes I would do everything I could to retain him, or get compensated for losing him.

I would've loved to have been "a fly on the wall" in those Front Offices the last few days! :)

The Clowney situation is anything but cut & dried, but rather it's a real conundrum.
We know that JD is tremendously talented and very valuable to the team, to any team but then there's the injury history which really complicates it and makes it
extremely difficult to assess his market-contract value so it's understandable that the team and Clowney/his agent are struggling to come to a meeting of the minds.
On the Draft, well many of us remain puzzled why BG didn't move up in the first round even if it were to cost an additional third-round pick if they could have got what appears to be a plug-and-play LT who could start for us immediately in September covering DW4's blind-side as opposed to drafting a small school guy who will need significant preparation & development before he's ready to start no matter how high his ceiling.

I don't think Dillard is as plug and play as some people think and Howard is probably the better fit. He is considered the better run blocker, an area that many consider a weakness for Dillard. Time will tell how each player turns out.

Not advocating for Rick, but OB was the one who pushed for jaelen strong when our scouting Department was high on David Johnson. Hindsight being 20-20, we did have Arian on the roster coming off a 1200 yard season and jaelen had a similar fall to Justin Reid

That's why I asked who was the plug and play. Plug and play LT's don't fall to the 20's

You understand this situation much better than most. What the Texans are continuing to do is the exact same thing they have always done and expecting different results. They have the recipe for average and ordinary down pat.

If I have said it once, I have said it twice and I will say it again, "I think you will find that the most success and the most continued successes in the NFL comes from exactly one man with a proven track record of winning making the call on all decisions, whether it be Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcels, Chuck Noll, Don Shula, Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, Tex Schramm, Ron Wolf, Ted Thompson, Ozzie Newsome or John Elway."

BEFORE I LEAVE I WANT TO OFFER THIS ONE BIG PIECE OF ADVICE; BUY YOURSELF $50,000 WORTH OF INSEEGO (INSG) TODAY. IN 2 TO 3 YEARS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY A VERY NICE HOUSE OR PAY FOR THE KIDS EDUCATIONS OR MAKE A HUGE INVESTMENT IN YOUR RETIREMENT. IN 3 TO 5 YEARS YOU CAN RETIRE!

    * - A proven ground floor operation in the 4th Industrial Revolution, 5G.
    * - Total Addressable Market expanded by a Magnitude of One or Two.
    * - Market Cap is $370MM, CEO believes company can reach $2 Billion.
    * - CEO has said INSG is a once in a lifetime stock.
    * - DO your own DUE DILIGENCE.

Easterby's former titles include "character" coach & it is rumored that he left NE in part b/c of Kraft's legal issues. So while i don't put anything past anyone, this guy seems as if he's as straight an arrow as there is. Apart from that, tampering is 1 of the dumbest rules in the NFL. It'd be 1 thing if he had no cause to be up at the NE ring ceremony...but he did. Also, there'd be no reason for him to "tamper" with Caserio at the event when he could've just called him up over the phone, or visited him at his home or any number of things that friends do.

So...outside of texts, email or some other form of verifiable medium, it'll be extremely hard for Beli & co. to prove tampering. Someone said it up thread though, it could be used as a stall tactic by beli....drag it out until the Texans FO are forced to move on.

    Regarding trading up for Strong:

"If we really like a player and we have conviction on this player, like we know we have a consensus that the scouting staff and the coaching staff like this player, we have a vision, we know where this guy is going to fit, let's go get him," O'Brien said recently in a season ticket holder conference call. "So if we feel like we're going to lose him, let's trade up and go get him."

Arizona State's Strong was still on the board in the third round. He was a player who'd visited NRG Stadium in the pre-draft process, and a wide receiver many Draft pundits believed to be a first round talent. So general manager Rick Smith was on the phone again for a trade, sending receiver DeVier Posey and picks in the 3rd (82nd), 5th (152nd) and the Cleveland 7th (229) to the Jets for their 3rd rounder (70th overall).

It was an aggressive second day of the Draft, and O'Brien liked it.

"I don't know if that's been done a lot around here before," O'Brien said. "But I give Rick credit, he did it. He did it twice, and we were able to get some good players. Again, those guys need to go out and play now. But we feel good about where they are."

According to McClain on 610 right now, they knew there was a chance they wouldn’t land Caserio when they fired Gaine, it was never some backdoor deal that Caserio said he would come so they fired Gaine. Cal thought it was time to move on and thats that really. If you hire someone to evaluate your business, and then they tell you someone as vital as a GM is to a football team isn’t pulling his weight, but then you leave the guy there anyways then it’s on you when the business fails isn’t it?

Also apparently the Patriots are currently trying to give Caserio the McDaniel’s treatment, they had him over at Kraft’s house with BB yesterday, and all that jazz. But he stays is it the end of the world? not even close, McClain just said he has had a handful of NFL execs reach out to him trying to feel out if it’s a legit GM job, or a job only by title and OB would actually be in charge. Derrick Anderson last night said he has talked with at least 15 high ranking NFL personnel guys who are interested in the job here, despite us only giving Gaine 17 months.
