A job title doesn't tell you what he does or doesn't know.
Right, his experience does
I’m going to have an open mind for whoever the Texans pick for GM.
Lol, silly goose? Dude, you're the one who charged in here talking about "record" this & that.....as if someone has to have a record of doing something to be regarded as good....or potentially good. I just shot a hole in your garbage thesis.
& to the best of my knowledge, noone's annointing him "great"at the job either jackass. That rhetoric is mostly coming outside of Houston from folks who he has worked with & that know of him.......The same way it did with Sean McVay & Chris Ballard.
But you go ahead & keep trolling.
Folks spoke/speak very highly of Gaine too..including that Parcells guy who he worked with at three different organizations.
It's amazing what a few years (and a little spin) will do.
Here's Boston Globe perspective on Caserio from the time of the Dolphins GM opening Vs. now.

From Belichick's mouth
On how Belichick could block Caserio
That's a 5 year difference bro. Alot can be learned by him & those writing these types of stories about him & what he does.
5 years before the Penn State child abuse scandal, Joe Paterno & Jerry Sandusky were admired and praised for their dedication & committment in developing young men.
People are acting like Caserio wants to come and Belichick is holding him hostage.
Does he want this job that looks like a dumpster fire?
That would be a dick move by Belichick not only to the Texans but to Caserio as well.
JMO but not his first.
Under corporate type structures, very normal to have "co-workers" in the process.
Casserio appears to be choice one, two, and three.
With that said, it would seem to me that if he is your man, you'd at least send out feelers prior to summarily dismissing the current GM.
You want to make sure that first - he's got a high level of interest. And secondly, you do your due diligence and see if the Pats would make him available.
Given that we're now 4 plus days from the axe dropping, and we still don't even have word of a Casserio interview, this seems like a guy that blew his top and prematurely axed his current GM.
It's one thing to put your foot down, demand accountability and demand results. It's another to lose your temper and act in an impulsive manner.
The first thing is something that has been sorely lacking. But if it's the second one, he needs to reign that in. Good businessmen never make major rash decisions while angry. You sleep on it - then when you're clear-minded you move forward AFTER identifying target #1 for the open position and contacting him and seeing if the interest is mutual.
This feels like the horse before the carriage to me.
They actually did, Jack Easterby. When he returned shortly thereafter Gaine was let go.
They did what? Sleep on it?
That may be the case, but if so where was the plan to lure Casserio? Given the unique time of the year for a move like this, you'd certainly want to line up your target before you shoot your wad.
Haha, he was first choice before Gaine but Texans denied interview. Once they added Easterby he apparently had Cal’s ear and made another attempt. Guess we’ll know if successful or not in a few days.
If this is a dumpster fire, the Texans have no shot at hiring anyone with qualifications matching that of a high level executive with immense football knowledge. According to some, that would make Caserio a match for this dumpster fire.
Bottom line is, if you say this is not an appealing job, the chances of the Texans hiring a great candidate is slim. So what loser should the Texans hire for GM? Caserio or someone with even less experience? Who might that be?
Whoever it is, there are going to be fans unhappy no matter what. Some of them are even active members of this board.
This has become pretty comical
I think it would be a more attractive job if you let a new guy come in and remake the whole front office and coaching staff before a draft .Whether this guy is a hc or a gm, give him a clean slate right after the season ends.
This is weird timing. You are tying a guy to obrien and to this off-season
Lots of reports saying patriots haven’t responded to the request to interview Caserio.
Wait.....what? He was the first choice even though he didn't even interview for the position?
If that's true, ya'll have the most incompetent front office in the history of sports.
