No he didn't. All week, everyone said Bettis desered a ring. He just got one. He still is not a great RB. He is just a product of durability. His YPC is 3.9 for his career. He has done nothing to "deserve" a ring when B. Sanders and J. Brown don't have one.:twocents:

I think that's an incredible quality for a RB. We'll see how long Bush holds up...

Bettis is more of a O-Lineman whereas Bush is going to be a part of a 2-RB system with Deuce McAllister.

Ah...Durability is the sign of a great back and the stats speak for themselves. He might haven't been a great gamebreaker, but he is quite possibly the best powerback to every play the game. His YPC was 3.9 and in his last years he was put in on short yardage situations, but he was the picture of consistency, he picked up yardage four yards at a time and always picked up solid yardage.

He has also done everything to deserve a ring, in a time of selfish players, he put his team first and more than welcomed the idea of taking a back seat and pay cut and becoming a situational player to help his team win. Bettis was a great rb, teamate, and football player. I would love to have a football player like that on my team

Not in a league where a RB with a 4.0 YPC is considered average. He is not great b/c he did not do anything like B. Sanders or Brown that changed the game.

I suppose its the Bus's fault that B. Sanders and J. Brown never got a ring?

How many times can you change the game? The game is simple its about being able to pick up the tough yards and nobody picked up the tough yards like Bettis. If you need 3 tough yards I'll take Bettis anyday. Also your right he never did anything like Sanders or Brown he won a superbowl ring.

The Bus getting a ring is the only thing that made the Steelers winning ok. He just never got hurt and stayed consistent and thats the only reason he has so much yardage. He just got the job done.

I hate the Steelers, I don't care for the bus, and no one deserves a ring. That being said, Bettis was one hell of a back and I would have taken him on my team any day.

I'm not saying he stinks, I'm just saying that rings go to great teams, not players. There are legendary players with naked fingers.

Thats all you can ask of a player. Pittsburgh has ran the ball more than any other team. They run the ball over 30 times a game and the fact that Bettis was able to hold up to that kind of punishment and pound the rock year in and year out makes him a great back. I can't believe there are people questioning him

Then why haven't these other "average" RBs put up the yardage Bettis did?

I agree with that, rings always go to great teams, but great teams are made up of great players. Pittsburgh has ridden Bettis for many of years, but for the last couple of years Bettis rode the Steelers. Bettis was asked to become a role player, short yardage back and he did.

There are plenty of great players that don't get rings, Marino, Sanders, Butkis, and many others, which makes a superbowl ring that much special. In the future they'll be plenty of other great players that will never win a ring, like Manning.:stirpot: Just because Bettis played on a great team shouldn't be a knock against him and his career.

The Bus is a class act guy. Wish he would have scored a touchdown. But I'm happy for him to go out on a high note lik this. Congrats to Jerome Bettis.
