He gave us some good moments. Too bad he couldn't have stayed healthy.

Is he taking Gary's doghouse with him?

I wish Ben the best of luck in his future endeavors. I hope he finds what he's looking for.

And here come the sour grapes.

I hope he gets his big contract. He played to the best of the limitations of his body, and he put in the hard work.

No sour grapes for me. I hope Tate tears it up with his new team (except if it's an AFC South team). He was a good backup player here but it's time for him to be a starter elsewhere.

I hope he breaks records, and the fans are wishy-washy. :spin:
It had actually occurred to me that our new HC might look at Tate, consider what he could do with all healthy ribs, and look at Foster's back and the number of carries he had in 2012....and cut Foster and sign Tate. We may be getting away more and more from the ZBS, so that played into my thinking.

Nothing against Foster, it was just a thought.

Great. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Tate.

2 reasons why I'm not sad he's leaving. 1) Has he ever played a full season? 2) Tate thinks he's 4.2 speed type of guy and always rushes to the outside. Sorry, Tate. You're not that fast. Learn how to run in between the tackles.

Next thread will be "Ben Tate has gotten in his car and started the engine"

We obsess too much I think over perceived slights from guys who played hard for us but aren't destined to spend their careers here. Wasted energy on our part.

This is another pick that Rick Smith botched. You pick a guy in the 2nd round and even though he was productive at times he never could crack the starting lineup.

Exactly, how dare he pick up an UDFA that out of nowhere started playing at an elite level.

If he plays up to his potential and manages to say healthy, he's going to make someone a very fine back. That said, I'm glad he's gone.

Best of luck to you Ben. Thanks for playing through the pain for us.

It wasn't botched. The reason he didn't crack the starting lineup was because Foster went off Tate's rookie year rushing for 1616 yards. Foster had 4,793 rushing yards during Tate's four years here. I don't think anybody was expecting Foster to have that type of productivity when Tate was drafted in 2010.
