If I didn't know better and was only reading this message board, I would think that the Texans were 0-6 and not just 0-1 with their only loss being a road loss against a team that is probably playoff bound.(Every expert in the NFL picked the Bills to win that game.)

I am hearing more doom and gloom than I have ever heard before.
Fire this person, fire that person. Questioning every draft pick ever made. Come on, the season is not even close to being over.

We are still a team on the rise. The Texans have only had one bad game this season.(Don't bother bring up preseason because it doesn't matter, ask Big Ben, the Colts, and the Broncos.)

Yes, the Texans didn't look very good last week. But I have watched the game three times now and all I can say is other than a subpar pass rush our Defense played great. They were on the field too much(so they were tired) and started with bad field position, both of those because of offensive turnovers. But we have a lot to be positive on the defensive side of the ball. All we need is for some of those Defensive guys to step up and make big plays, gets some INTs, creates some fumbles, and create havok.

This is a new week for the offense and a good rattling can work wonders sometimes.

Yes this is going to be a tough week. Even if we lose, 0-2 is not the end of the world. EVERYONE who knew anything about football knew these were going to be tough games. We start off by playing the #1 and #2 defenses from last year. Yes, they are going to make our offense look bad at times, that is after all how they got to be the #1 and #2 defenses last year.

Relax. Have faith and wait a few weeks before we all start calling for the coaches, players and managements heads. (Trust me I have these same feelings, I wanted Palmer fired on the spot when he had us run on 1st & 20, and I had steam coming out of my ears when Capers decided not to go for it on 4th and inches, down in the 4th quarter.)

:texflag: :tv: enjoy the show!! :texflag:

yeah, what's up with that?! Shouldn't the Colts be playing these teams at the beginning of their season!? idonno:

But good post. It does seem like one of the more demoralizing losses for fans...coming out of the gate flat and looking like a first year expansion team.

However, like you said, it's only one game, and it's not like we can't rebound. So I agree with you...at least until Monday (and that depends on how they play Sunday ;) )

I'm a Steelers fan, and I only wish that the Texans were somewhere near as bad as the Titans. After the way the Bills ran at the Texans last week, I can't see the Texans not being angry and ready to do battle up front against the run.

I don't see Pittsburgh losing this game, but I don't think they'll be doing cartwheels through it, either. Parker is unlikely to have the same kind of day this Sunday, and I don't think Roethlisberger (assuming his knee's okay) will get by only throwing 11 passes.

I think the Steelers win this one, but they also do some time in the whirlpool afterward.

I'm wondering if that had a determining factor in our week 3 bye.

I don't think it's the fact that the Texans lost that has people upset. It's more about the way they lost.

Hit it on the head. I anticipated them losing but hoped they'd prove better than their preseason performances. They failed. Quality play makes a loss easier to swallow.

Good points. This is the second gutless effort in a row (not including the terrible preseason games) and fans have had enough of it. If the team played with what appeared to be any effort or passion it would be much different.

I seem to remember the Texans looking a little slow and out of sync the first couple of games last year. I don't have them recorded, so I can't double check.
If so, I expect them to get it together by game 3.
Maybe a bye in week 3 ain't such bad a thing after all.

As bad as we played last Sunday, a win in Houston against the Steelers would be huge thus far. 1-1 going into the bye wouldn't be a bad thing, I think most here would consider it a success. I would consider it a success for us.

You're missing the point Justin, the problem is not the record, its the way we
played the game, or maybe the lack of playing the game, i.e. not showing up
for the season opener. And the game was most comparable to what was the last game of last season. So in effect we've got an 8 month break between the 2004 & 2005 regular seasons with book-end games from the end of 2004 and the beginning 2005 being 2 of the sorryest efforts in the teams young history. Understand, not an auspicious start for the new season especially
when you consider its kinda of a deja vu type event with the season finale last year with the Browns.
But its a new week and redemption awaits the Texans at Reliant Stadium this Sunday !

Exactly. I didnt expect my Texans to win last week. What i did expect was for them to field a competitive team that showed like they had some clue about what they were doing out there. This is the first season where I was let down on opening day. Last season we loss to San Diego and to be honest, I went into that game expecting a win. At the end, I was a little disapointed in the loss, but not in our fight and passion. It was obvious that we were fielding a much better team than we did in 03 so I was satisfied about that. This season, it's not so obvious that we were better than we were last year. I'll love my team even if we go 0-16. All I ask for is improvement. I dont think that's too much to hope for. Hopefully all this thinking will change after a win come sunday.

01 and 0-6 miss the point that several other posters have mentioned---our
offense or lack there of began the last half of 2004, carried into the pre-
season, and now into 2005....friend, not even counting the preseason, thats
a lot of games but the board is getting kind of quiet so please don't stir
    anything up :yahoo:

I watched the game three times.

5 TURN OVERS and the Defense only gave up 1 touchdown, even though they looked exhaused in the second half and started giving up lots of run yardage.
Our Defense has only given up 2 touchdowns in the last 19 quarters of regular season play! We have a good Defense folks. We are going to win games. But our offense can't hand to ball over repeatedly in field goal range.)

I will refuse to jump on the band wagon and say that our entire team played without passion. If you saw the look on David Carrs face as he was running for his life, after countless missed blocks - that was passion. When he did have time, which wasn't very often, he played poorly. (Don't think I am defending him.) He need more consistent protection. He reminds me of someone with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, skakey and shell shocked.

I agree. We got crushed. We played even worse than the score showed. The coaches gave up on the team (base on their actions/decisions, not words). But we are still only 0-1. Yes it is time to be upset. But your missing the point. It is not time to give up, it is not time to call for the heads of all the coaches, players and mgmt.

My point...Lets not give up on the team, let's not give up on THIS group of GUYS and THIS group of COACHES, because this season they are all we got. Our O-line may let down the team. A defender may give up a key play. But let's not let them say the FANS gave up, or the FANS let down the team. I know the people on this board for the most part are hardcore and aren't going anywhere, and most of this has been venting (heck i have done it some this week too.), but lets make sure the people you go to the game with, and the casual fans around town and at the stadium don't give up on the team either.

In the words of the great George Michael:

"Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
    I know not everybody
Has got a body like you

But I've got to think twice
Before I give my heart away
And I know all the games you play
    Because I play them too

    Oh but I
Need some time off from that emotion
Time to pick my heart up off the floor
And when that love comes down
    Without devotion
Well it takes a strong man baby
But I'm showing you the door

    'Cause I gotta have faith...
    Mmm, I gotta have faith
'Cause I gotta have faith, faith,
Mm 'cause I gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith

    Baby
I know you're asking me to stay
Sayin' please, please, please, don't go away
You say I'm giving you the blues
    Maybe
You mean every word you say
Can't help but think of yesterday
And another who tied me down to loverboy rules

    Before this river
    Becomes an ocean
Before you throw my heart back on the floor
    Oh baby I reconsider
    My foolish notion
Well I need someone to hold me
But I'll wait for something more

    Yes I've gotta have faith...
    Mmm, I gotta have faith
'Cause I gotta have faith, faith, faith,
Mm 'cause I gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith"

No but i was born in california but that has no bearing on my opinion.
just the Quality or the talent someone can bring to this team that need a true field general. to be honest with all of you i much rather have gus ferrot playing Qb.
