WR Andre Johnson is close to signing a new deal that could make him the highest-paid player at his position.

Well done Texans and well deserved Andre. Now, let's go out there and win a Super Bowl or two.

Glad Andre is gonna be happy, hope this doesn't cause trouble in the future though.

Assuming it all comes down as indicated, it will be interesting to see how it's structured, given the uncapped year, and uncertainty regarding what the future will hold CBA-wise.

What, you mean if Fitz gets a new deal making him the highest, we have to redo AJ's deal? Ha, I'm kidding!

    In all seriousness, good point.

Texans and Andre Johnson near a new deal!

According to John McClain’s tweet a few minutes ago, the Texans are about to sign Andre Johnson to a new contract which would make him the NFL’s highest paid WR. We knew this was coming but I’m curious about the timing because I am still focused on the likely Aaron Schobel acquisition. If the Texans have agreed/agree to a new deal with AJ tonight or tomorrow, it bolsters my belief that they are about to sign Schobel for two reasons:

Is Brandon Marshall’s 5 yr $50 million ($24 million guaranteed) the current highest paid receiver?

No Fitz has the best deal. His is 4 years 40 mil with 30 guaranteed. Marshall's is 5 years 47.3 mil with only 12.5 guaranteed. A lot of this is becoming about guaranteed money.

Good news. Highest paid WR.... Are we looking at around 5 year 50mil, more than 30m guaranteed? Whatever deal AJ gets he deserves every penny.

    Go AJ!!!
    Go Texans!!!

Thanks. I never EVER get tired of watching both of those. Simply incredible.

Really excited with this. I know Andre agreed to the original contract, but this is a special situation. This is ANDRE FREAKING JOHNSON and the MAN deserves this. He will likely be the first Texans Hall of Famer and this move solidifies that AJ will probably remain a Texan his entire career.

    Now let's get Schobel signed.

Fantastic plays by AJ but Schaub should get at least a pat on the back. On the Arizona play Schaub hangs in there to get two sided crushed while throwing a perfectly placed pass. On the Tacks play Schaub hangs that ball arguably a tad far but certainly where nobody but AJ would get it. Cris Carter was just talking about that recently with some comments on how a good QB will learn to play to the strengths of the WR. He was using Moss as an example of someone the QB could just throw a jump ball to and figure he would come down with it.

Here is a great QB & WR trust and execution play as well.
