ive come to call my totally crazy, totally new idea the "South Carolina Connection":

    1. even though i disagree with the pick, we select troy williamson at #13. remember that is two south carolina first rounders in as many years.
    2. we know bob mcnair loves his school and seems to pushing for williamson as our selection (nothing concrete to go by, just on subtleties alone)
    3. with mcnair's influence, our scouting department begins to heavily scout south carolina prospects in the future.
    4. this is the clincher...with 'the 'ol ball coach' doing the recruiting at south carolina these days, the talent level will steadily increase because of his stature and the program's turn around.
    5. some of the best SEC talent finds it's way onto houston's doorstep through the draft/trades/FA in the next 5-8 years!!

i know if the best players are coming out of south carolina in the next few drafts then with our (hopefully) late first round picks they won't be available, but maybe the spurrier/mcnair connection will sway players minds once they are in the league to find their way to houston. just some food for thought :thumbup

Just as long as McNair doesn't hire Spurrier when he eventually fires Capers/Capers resigns all will be well...I'm not sure I trust Spurrier right now though, since I heard he cut Demetrius Summers, one of the best backs in the SEC...Also, how many good players were there that came through Florida under Spurrier's tenure? Gerard Warren, Travis Taylor, Reggie McGrew, Ike Hilliard, Reidel Anthony, Danny Wuerffel, errr wait a minute...

GREAT POINT! .......probably why williamson left school early....and he was in a RUN oriented offense. lol
