A quote most have been waiting for from Mario

Piss This Guy Off...i Hope Some Tackle Just Slams His @$$ So He Can Wake Up And Start Doing What He Is Capable Of...put Peek In He Will Drive Mario!

Exactly. That's sad. His quote from yesterday is very telling of the player that we drafted.

You all are completely taking his quote out of context. He had been speaking earlier about how he was thinking too much and trying to go through all of his reads (thus, slowing himself down, and making him less aggressive). So, as a result, he is now going to let loose more and play more violently (he is essentially throwing caution to the wind).

I think that the only thing telling about this comment is that he is not a jackass, and he wants to get better.

I won't be at the game this weekend, so my luck, this will be the game Mario blows up and has a breakout performance.

This will probably also be the game that Richard Smith "finds pages 18-25 in the playbook" as someone else put it, decides to start blitzing, and we send Culpepper back to Miami with 4 turnovers & a concussion en route to a 44-14 route.

There, fixed it for ya'. :D

...put Peek In He Will Drive Mario!

Yeah, right. The only thing Peek will do, is get in the backfield & suddenly realize that the little guy that he had to run around to get to the QB, was the RB taking off down the sideline for a TD. Peek is a 3rd & long pass rushing specialist, & nothing more. :stirpot:

If you watch the Colts game (Mario's best effort to date) He was blatantly held many times without a penalty being called. Had it not been for those holds he would have probably gotten at least 2 sacks as they were from Mannings blind side on those plays.

Butttttt..... That happens constantly in the NFL, so I guess you can't really use that as an excuse. I thought the comment he made about how hard it was to get a sack in the NFL was interesting. It kinda shows where he's at as a rookie. Figuring out that the NFL is much bigger and faster than college. He has obviously been playing with a lot of hesitation, He's not committing his whole body to the play. I really believe once it sinks in that he has the ability to dominate his blocker(s) He will. I also think that once he gets his first sack his confidence level will go way up, and he will be a force for the team.

I agree with this statement through and through.

Reading the article, Williams comments reminded me of when I first started playing Golf, I played just fine until I got with a golf pro and started learning new technique. for the next 2 months I could barely hit the ball because I was so engrossed in getting my technique right, I finally got so frustrated that I started just using the old baseball swing again and letting loose and the new stuff I had learned started making a difference.

great analogy. mario doesnt need to develope a mean streak, he's already got one. he just needs to stop overthinking and use the violence that got him to where he is now.

Probably Visualize ESPN people saying what a bad pick he was at Number 1.

"Mario Williams sets Sack Record thanks to Visualization"

:yahoo: I can see it now. :ok:

No offense, but I don't think he needs to "visualize" that. If he wanted to use that as motivation, it's readily available.

This is my favourite quote:

“No, I even was talking to my teammates and the coaches, and I don’t know what it was, but I was very hesitant. What you have seen hasn’t been me. Like I said, it has been my fault and I have to take responsibility for that. And I plan on turning it loose and letting it go now

This would be great if it was true.. We will have to wait until this weekend.

I for one would love to see this guy throw a bigger punch, not lay his hands on someone and push but PUNCH his guy in the chest and slide that sucker up into his throat every now and again.

This guy can play he needs someone to talk about his mom or he needs someone to step on his infected toe to get MAD!!!!!!!!!

He needs to take a class in Peek 101- How to get flippin ticked.

What's a Peek? He was the tasmanian devil in the preseason. Has he played a down yet?

i have faith in mario to turn it around. he does need to let it loose though. besides...he can't get worked more than he already has.

I serious think that the coaching staff had Mario thinking too much. Let this guy just pin his ears back and create havoc, that's it. His confidence is at a all-time low right now, let him loose and get that confidence back and i betcha people will start to take notice. It's all about CONFIDENCE!!

Nope, I'm waiting for:

"I contacted Peyton and his family and told them it was nothing personal. It's tough to know that you'll never play a down of football again. He's going through a tough time right now and he needs support."

You should watch a show I saw about Reggie White. In part of it his High School coach talked about having to force the meaness out of Reggie by repeatedly hard fouling him in a basketball game to the point of making him cry. Back then Reggie was a 2 sport player. Finally, Reggie decided he wasn't going to take it anymore and the rest as they say is history. Here is to hoping Coach Karm forces the meaness out of Mario. :superman:

I actually agree with your premise....But at this stage in the game ?? It's one thing to be taught and molded when you are young....but he's in the NFL now...thats the point....isn't it a little late(and lame) to come out and say..."coach told me I gotta be more violent"....That nearly made me sick when I heard our number one pick, multi million dollar investment talking about becoming more "violent"....Here's to hoping for Marios success....

It's kinda like telling lightning in a bottle to stop dancing int he backfield, and hit the hole. When you are on the other side of the line-of-scrimmage, I don't care if you do the hokie-pokie, but back there, hit the hole.

Wow! I thought the Mongol Hoards were where Mongol farmers industriously stored their harvest as insurance against bad times.

Now that I've googled it, I find it is the Mongol Hordes. That is entirely different! It seems that the Mongols could have been described as warlike!

That just goes to show, spelling is important.

Mario doesn't strike me as a guy who takes matters into his own hands (Which a man his size should). It seems he's always looking for some sort of guidance from the coaches instead of using instinct. I wonder if he's so worried about making a mistake that he overanalyzes everything and ends up causing mistakes for himself.

Yeah, and that kinda makes me think....I kinda...sorta...slightly.....
maybe...a lil bit....understand where Coach Kubes and Mario are coming from..................Mario was playing tentative....Unsure almost....Coach is telling him to basically think less about the assignment, and more about the physical aspects of his game...the reason we drafted this so called "freak of nature"....And it may have came across the wrong way because of Mario's choice of words....insert hesitant where he says violent/agressive and that makes me feel a heck of a lot better......From a coaching perspective you can't really coach your players up if they aren't going full out...if they are kind of tip toeing it makes it hard to correctly critique them.....

Kubiak probably would rather Mario go full out...make a mistake mentally...Crush someone...kill some soul......as opposed to tip toeing, getting your assignment right(or atleast trying to), and being totally inefective.....Thats what I think it is....

Or....Maybe being the fan I am optimism just automatically creeps in as we get closer to game time...I dunno....

I hope you're correct. If I see him get manhandled by a guy like TE Mike Sellers again, I'll be sick. I don't know if he was just caught off guard or what but he was handled easily, resulting in a TD.:brickwall

Here's an important question...IMO

Is this cut loose and let it rip stuff mean that coach is going to keep him at one position?

If Mario feels comfortable cutting it loose at one spot well then lets just see how good he does. RE or LE?
