If you request it, I would bet you could get some people to negative rep you to help get that rep reduced a bit.

    (j/k) :)

Fifteen years old might just be the worst year of your life. It certainly might have been mine. Keep your head up. This too shall pass.

I repped you and I didn't do it because I feel bad for you. I thanked you for having the courage to say what you think, having fun, and not taking this so seriously. I was sincere. I think you deserved it, and I'm the one that gets to decide.

I don't think you are a dumbass. I think you are learning to express yourself. If this really bothers you than you can do something about it. But never be afraid to say what you think because someone else might mock how you say it.

As Mojo said, I can certainly negative rep you to offset the positive rep if that would make you feel better.

Look man, you have some really good things to say, and I certainly wouldn't want you to leave the board. Perhaps I am off, but I certainly don't think you are a dumb ass. If you were, I doubt you would have any rep at all, and you really wouldn't have anything to add. Take this for what its worth, but I just think you are lazy in a world filled with kids that would rather learn text messaging lingo instead of the English language. That doesn't make you bad or a dumb ass; it simply means your focus is in the wrong place. Your peers probably have no trouble understanding you.

So take all of this as nothing more than constructive criticism. You need to practice on the spelling and sentence structure. It will most assuredly help you later on in life so why not just look at your time here as a chance to share some good thoughts but to also practice your writing.

The first way to start out, is to do what most of us do...........take the extra time and effort to thoughtfully reread our posts before hitting the "Submit Reply" button.

When you meet someone in person, each of you form a first impression of the other. The result can be positive or negative, or mostly in between. Things over which you have no control can shape that impression (your looks, for instance). You can work to overcome that first impression in a number of ways.

When you "meet" someone on the Internet, or rather, when you express yourself via the written word, you present yourself for others to form that impression. Unlike when you meet someone in person, there is only one thing that people have to judge you by - your written word. YOU are the one who controls what impression people form about you.

Like someone else posted in your rep, none of us own jack around here. But we form our opinion of you based on the only thing we can - your posts. For your part, I'd echo what others said in your rep in saying that you should not care what others think about you. You should, however, care enough about yourself and your own education to want to correct the things that others are pointing out to you. This ought to be done for yourself. It's your life, though.

Turn this into a learning experience. Seriously, what browser do you use? Get one such as Firefox that will automatically spell check. Type your thoughts and if something is spelled wrong it will underline it in red. Then you right click on the word and it will give you a list of correctly spelled words you might have meant. Do that and pay attention to the corrections. Turn your passion for football into a learning experience. It will help you in school as well. And pay some attention to rules you certainly know like capitalizing the first word in sentences. No it isn't substantive but it gives an entirely different overall feel and impression. Not doing it looks lazy. Good luck.

CloakNNNdagger has given you some good feedback here, slatonisabeast.

In fact, I was thinking something that was somewhat similar a while ago.

Everyone makes errors and mistakes, whether those are spelling errors, inappropriate comments, promises made that due to circumstances cannot be kept, or whatever. With some people these happen rarely. With other people they happen constantly, with many of the same mistakes being repeated over and over. Which type of person do you or I want to be? It is up to each of us to decide for ourselves through certain choices that we make.

One of the great things about being 15 years old is that you can change your future and your habits more easily than you will be able to in many cases when you get older. This is the time for you to set some standards and expectations for yourself regarding what type of person you want to be.

Do you want to be someone who is trustworthy and reliable? Or do you want to be someone who quickly alters course towards the easier way whenever you encounter something boring or difficult? Being trustworthy and reliable means you can be trusted and relied upon to finish what you start, and to do whatever you are doing as well as you reasonably can.

At your age, your posts do not communicate to me that you are dumb. What they communicate to me is that you are sloppy. Sloppiness is a trait that you can change, unlike your innate intelligence. CloakNNNdagger is right. You need to take your time and edit your posts. Make each one as perfect as you possibly can before you post it, including spelling, grammar and the content of your message.

Also, get a dictionary if you do not have one and look up words whenever you encounter one that you do not know how to spell, or that you do not know the meaning of. This will help you to build your vocabulary. If you do this for the next few years, you will be really surprised at how much smarter you get with regards to words and language.

I am telling you the truth when I say that practice makes perfect. If you do this with every post, and every other thing that you write, including papers for school, your writing will start to improve pretty quickly.

Like I said earlier, your posts communicate to me that you are sloppy, not that you are dumb. But sloppiness is not a behavior that only demonstrates itself through writing. You can be sloppy in the conduct of a great many activities. I would be surprised to discover that you are only sloppy with regards to your writing, and that you are not also sloppy in the way you handle other things.

If you do not take steps to rectify this, you will bring great difficulty on yourself in the years to come. Great difficulty, and also unnecessary difficulty. I have two pieces of advice for you that everyone should strive to follow:

    1. Pay attention to what you are doing.
    2. Take responsibility for your actions.

Your shortcomings in these two areas are the primary source of your difficulties with poor writing specifically, and sloppiness generally. You have it within our power to improve in these areas. For you to be successful as an adult, it will be essential that you do so.

If you have any questions about any of this, please post back. I would be happy to discuss this with you further.

I think everyday you wake up you make a choice to run with the big dogs or stay on the porch . If you decide to run with the big dogs it takes more effort but you'll be better for it . Your pity rep as it's called , is an effort to get you to be your best and one day you'll do the same . :highfive:

My personal favorites are the back-to-back bah007 "rubbishes" and getting slammed twice for my half-kidding support for Chad Stanley. Oh, I like Second Honeymoons little gem too.

The moral of this story is.... always try to be a better person, but only the person YOU want to be. Don't let some of the balloon heads on here bring you down. There are some great guys to listen to, though. InfantryCak, Vinny and Double Barrel just to name a few. Keep supporting the Texans and you are good on my list, because sometimes even that is hard to do.

This bears repeating - great advice and great post - rep coming your way.

Slaton - dumb you ain't and that is a fact. Once deciphered, anyone can tell that your thinking processes are very good. You need to tell yourself that at least 3 times a day while improving your communication skills which is very possible - it just takes a little effort on your part.

15 isn't fun - but it does get better and better. Trust us old folks.

You know it's not very mature to go around publishing your rep comments. Not that anyone wouldnt fess up to leaving +/- rep.

Just seems like a tacky move.

My thoughts also. You put it nicer than what was crossing my mind.

Reps are personal. Between 2 people - not to be shared with everyone.

If they wanted them shared they would post them in a thread - not as +/- rep.
