As long as their not really increasing the total number of games played I don't see a problem with it. Injuries suck but if it keeps football on my tv then I'll take 2 more real games and 2 more not-so-real games.
I'd like the alternative better, which is to stop charging regular season prices for exhibition games. You know they won't do that, so they'll have the players kill themselves a little more instead.
I think the 32 team 16 game season is perfect. You play your own division twice and each team in an AFC and NFC division once, with 2 strength of schedule games. That is a neat and efficient system and I don't see any reason to tinker with it.
Doesn't seem like something the players would go for. I had to laugh at the notation that the owners would like this..well yea sure THEY would. But the players..eh maybe not so much. Ray Lewis pretty much said what I've heard before.
If the regular season is going to be 18 games long, they need to have two bye weeks during the season, not one.
I think I agree with this, but it would be a scheduling nightmare.
^This. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
However, I am in favor of dropping two pre-season games and adding an extra Bye week to the season.
Pass please. 18 games is too long, we already see teams decimated by injuries, no point in making that happen on a more frequent basis.
I like it, like they said better value for us!
Would 2 preseason games give rooks and FAs enough field time for the coaches to make educated decisions or do they pretty much know by the end of camp and scrimmages?
i wouldnt mind changing to a 17 game season with 2 byes
I disagree. The "old" scheduling allowed for far more strength of schedule changes. This lousy 2 SoS adjustments has killed teams like the Texans when they deserved a far more lenient schedule. That why the Texans, who just missed the playoffs last year, still have the toughest schedule in the league. With 2 more games to adjust that, they's be much closer to what they "deserve".
So we could add two more 2nd place teams? Like GreenBay & Atlanta?
Don't know how that would help us much.
Just keep it at 16 and drop 2 pre-season games. The pre-season is WAAAAAAAAAY too long.
That will never happen. That would be lost revenue.
